Campers navigate each site and find great camp activities, silly songs and excellent staff, not to mention the treasure. That’s right! TREASURE! The cross marks the spot and our guide reveals himself. Through this nurturing, safe yet still exciting environment campers will be challenged to learn who they are as individuals and who they are as they step onto a path to follow Christ.
On this adventure campers will be challenged to learn who they are as individuals and who they are as followers of Christ. Anyone can start their own journey with EOC and we have many ways to start. Choose an event at one of the East Ohio Camps: Aldersgate, Asbury, and Wanake, or go off the beaten path with Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF), Reach Out or Institute. T he Bible compares a person who trusts in the Lord to a tree planted beside a stream. Even
in seasons of drought this tree thrives because it “knows” how to grow toward water. Ever thought about trees as spiritual guides? The Bible has. It uses images from nature to teach us about being spiritual people. If trees can teach us about being a follower of Jesus then we ought to spend some time with trees.
This summer Camp Asbury invites you to come to the woods for fun and adventure. Every child should have the chance to play among the trees. Camp Asbury’s 450 acres of woods, wetlands and meadows invite exploration.
At Camp Asbury we’ll do more than help you find your way around the woods. We’ll help you grow spiritually: by living in a small-group community; by opening the meaning of the Bible; by experiencing the wonder of creation.
Experience the woods as a place of refreshment, wonder, connectedness and fun. Discover that you can depend on God to provide you with the essentials for growth—right where you are.
Camp Asbury’s Summer 2011 theme is “Faith Like Trees.” Let the Word of God take root and grow within you. Tap into the value of living outdoors with a small group of peers under the supervision of trained and talented college-aged counselors. Stretch. Grow. Branch out.
Summer camp at Wanake is an experience that lasts a lifetime. Strong friendships and deep
understandings are built as campers experience small family groups of 10 -12 campers with two counselors who serve as positive, Godly role models. Family groups live, play, study, eat, and pray together, as well as enjoy all their themed experience offers. This Jesus-centered community encourages new ways of thinking and reinforces positive habits. Campers practice decision making and have opportunities to take responsibility. New for 2011 is the teen schedule, featuring nightly campfires, sleep-in mornings, and “teen-only” events.
Wanake’s goal is that campers will have a new, renewed, and/or strengthened relationship with God. Counselors facilitate daily devotions, Bible study, prayer, and teachable moments, providing settings for campers to grow in relationship with Jesus. Each camper is given opportunities to practice leadership, encouraging growth as a Christian leader.
Wanake offers program variety for all ages providing opportunities to try new things and build skills with practiced mentors. Campers benefit from being in God’s Creation and exploring Wanake’s 250 acres. Specialty programs include swimming, rock climbing, horseback riding, creative/performing arts, outdoor living, and sports.
Housing includes modern retreat centers, traditional cabins, The Rock Lodge, Adirondack Shelters, and The Survival Cabin. Woods and lakes; pool with rock-climbing and diving board; historic barns; and 47 foot climbing tower add to Wanake’s setting.
Each year, youth from around Ohio have the opportunity to gather at Malone University and Lakeside
for great Christian community, in-depth Bible study, creative worship, mission projects and lots of fun activities. Malone University, located in Canton, is a beautiful campus and has been the home of CYF (Christian Youth Fellowship) for the last 6 years. Lakeside is a gated community on the Marblehead Peninsula on Lake Erie. It has been the long-standing place to gather for Lakeside Institute and Reach Out. What are they all about?
CYF Passionate Worship. Authentic Christian community. Cutting-edge technology. Collegiate atmosphere. Intense Bible study. Creative expression. Incredible energy. Mind-blowing prayer. Impactful service. A long history of life change. Monumental Slip-n-Slide. Check out the website - www.mycyf.com.
Reach Out Reach Out is a camp for youth going into the 8th grade through senior high. Centered around a two day off-site mission trip, the week also includes great activities, life-long friendships, praise and worship, study, and great fellowship. Be Open. Be Faithful. Be There. Check out the website. www.reachoutcamp.com.
Lakeside Institute:A week of worship, fun and fellowship is in store as you grow in your relationship with Christ. Feel the presence of the Lord through prayer time, small group discussions, worship, and personal devotion time as well as the fun activities planned throughout the week. Check out the website - www.LakesideInstitute.org.
A summer camp experience at Camp Aldersgate is not just for fun. The week is marked by an asterisk in the
life book of each camper to a footnote telling of the life change that happens here. Campers experience age-appropriate daily activities led by the thoroughly trained summer staff. At these activities campers learn about God, creation, respect for each other and how to live as a child of God; all while learning new life skills such as cooking, boating, archery, guitar, horseback riding, arts and crafts, making new friends, conflict resolution, teamwork, dealing with bullies, etc. All of these lessons are learned simply by being at Camp Aldersgate. The counselor led Bible studies are times when campers can talk about what they learn about God from simply doing life, and what they read in the Word. We believe more is caught than is taught; so our staff, alongside our campers, create and live in a genuine Christian community for every part of the camp day.
Aldersgate is a place that is blessed by God; and many people, of all ages, have grown closer to God while here. We pray that all of the lessons that the campers learn here, both intentional and spontaneous, will show them how much God loves and cares for them. You can read personal stories and discover more about Aldersgate by visiting us at www.facebook.com/campaldersgate.

A Camp Adventure You Create
Grades 4-6 in the fall of 2011Warning…before reading further please note, this camp is only for those who want to have fun, laugh, choose their own activities when they get to camp, and grow closer to God. Reading this description could cause you to become so excited for camp you experience difficulty sleeping until the day of check-in. For a week you’ll never forget; live the adventure you create! You will find yourself in the Director’s chair as you and the others in your group select from a never ending list of adventures and activities to experience throughout the week. We obviously can’t list the entire “Never Ending List” now, but here are some examples: work towards your American Archer badge at the archery range, learn to set your sails on Leesville Lake, hold and talk with the live animals in the animal house, reel in the catch of the day while on a fishing adventure, design and create your own jewelry masterpieces, go to Cardboard Box City Creation, model rockets, cooking, wood working, sign language, guitar les-sons, worship leading, or visit the Prayer Path. This is the point when other camps stop, but not Aldersgate…because you also have an opportunity to experience the adventure of Slime Warp, Ultimate Cupcake Cook-off, Jell-o Face molds, the star party, and much more. Just remember, you and your friends get to pick what you want to do to create this adventure. For example; don’t want to go on the sleep out? No problem, you get to pick between our sleep out or sleep-in-over. What’s more, you’ll get to swim at our super-sized and fully equipped “west and wild waterfront” every sunny day with our brand new “aqua roller”, have ice cream for breakfast, go on a nature exploration hike, play at the creek, sleep in one morning, participate in amazing Bible studies and worship services, and laugh until you hurt!! What’s that, you don’t want to go to the waterfront one day? That’s fine with us, you can decide to go to sports, archery, arts and crafts, or choose from another activity we offer that day. Think that’s enough for one week? Well we don’t!!!! Dur-ing Check-In on the Sunday you arrive for camp, you can pay an extra fee of $24 to go Horseback Riding and/or climbing on the Rock Wall. What else could we possibly pack into this amazing week of camp? You’ll see and experience the adventure when you are here this summer. You Decide Your Experience
Grades 7-12 in the fall of 2011Your life is more than your story to tell, it’s your story to live… Now that you are in Jr. and Sr. High, your time at camp is in your hands. Want a high speed, high adventure, action packed week? U Got It! Want to work on the tan, hang out with friends at the beach, and chillax all week? U Got It! Want to mix and match? U can do that too! We allow you to try different things every day, or you can choose one activity that you go to every day to learn and better your skills. On Sunday you get to write your personal award-winning schedule for the week. Some of the activities we’ve offered in the past are: Guitar lessons, water sports, video production, cooking, archery, swimming, sailing, canoeing, super-canoeing, super-fob, arts and crafts, worship planning, coffee gourmet, scrapbooking, extreme nature hike, music video production, dance, hip-hop, sports of all kinds, relaxing at the beach, hanging with staff and other new friends, climbing the Aqua Mountain, cleaning the camp director’s car, learning to write run-on sentences, and more! Each camp story can also include tales from: the star party, a karaoke party, a mystery dinner theater, a shipwreck adventure, an invitational worship service at the Labyrinth…and, back by popular demand, our famously innovative, inspirational, quirky, hilarious, as seen on YouTube “Tuesday Morning Live” variety show on Thurs-day night. In addition, campers in The Experience can go to the “No Kids Allowed” zone inside The Lounge. During Check-In on the Sunday you arrive for camp, you can pay an extra fee of $24 to go Horseback Riding and/or climbing on the Rock Wall. The staff is working day and night to invent new activities. Head on over to www.facebook.com/campaldersgate and share your ideas with us. If we pick one of your suggestions, you’ll receive a free t-shirt when you get to Aldersgate. For best results, read at high speed….. Warning…participants in this program have reported difficulty sleeping from excitement, a lasting urge to yell “squirrel” at random times, the development of new friendships...some lasting a lifetime, a decrease in mood-swings, a deeper and deepening relationship with God, and the ability to hit a bulls eye from 50 yards with an arrow. Some people have developed calluses on finger tips from learning the guitar, and a skin condition known best as “pruning” has been known to develop from too much time at the waterfront. Others around you may notice an increase in self-confidence and there have been a few reports of increases in re-sponsible behavior. If these conditions decrease or begin to go away at all…you should pray and contact Camp Aldersgate immediately!!Grades 7-9June 13-18 event #10141June 26-July 1 event #10341July 10-15 event #10541July 17-22 event #10641July 24-29 event #10741July 31-august 5 event #10841Cost $329 early bird $309

Future Aldersgate Staff Training Academy
For Grades 10-12 in the fall of 2011For teens who want to be on camp staff one day, take the first step and enroll in the Future Aldersgate Staff Training (FAST) Academy. As a Cadet in FAST, the camp staff will work with you to discover and develop the camp staff skills. Explore the daily life, responsibilities, and rewards of waterfront staff, kitchen staff, maintenance staff, office staff, program staff, and counseling staff. Find the best fit for you. June 12th through the 17th is the training and orientation week for FAST. During workshops you’ll make new friends, learn camp songs and games, see all of the “staff
only” areas, and more. Between these workshops you’ll spend time in all the other great camp activities that have kept so many coming back to Aldersgate year after year. FAST Cadets will also develop leadership and professional skills including: resume development, interviewing, professional communication, conflict resolution, time
management, organization, public speaking, and more. All of these skills can help with college, scholarship, and job applications.
At the end of the week many campers will receive their red shirt. This shirt symbolizes an invitation to return to Aldersgate throughout the summer to demonstrate leadership, to practice learned skills and continue to grow. Throughout the year, current Cadets return to Aldersgate for optional weekend development retreats where we continue to focus on spiritual formation and grow closer to Christ as a supportive community. New for Summer 2011, Camp
Asbury introduces weekly
themes. No two weeks of
summer are alike. Whether
you attend one week of camp
or multiple weeks of camp, ev-
ery week has a unique flavor.
All Camp Asbury resident
programs participate in the
theme of the week. Classic
Camp Programs: Discovery,
Explorers and Adventure are
spiced with the weekly theme.
In creative arts and specialty
programs campers devote
several hours of every day to
their focus activity plus par-
ticipate in the weekly theme.
Leadership development is
the focus of much of Camp
Asbury’s high school pro-
gramming. Mentoring younger
campers, servant-style leader-
ship, outdoor cooking and
facilitation skills are high-
lighted. Aspiring camp leaders
should check out Counselor
in Training, 2nd Mile, Top
Chef, or Zippidy Do
Dah.
2011 weekly Themes:
Week 1 (June 12-17): Are You Game? A week of zany camp-wide contests. The play spills over into your cabin. You’ll wake up wondering what’s next.
Week 2 (June 19-24): Duct Tape. Un-wind a week of creative fun. Patch, repair, and construct. You’ll be amazed at the stuff that duct tape sticks together and discover that God’s love is the best ad-hesive.
Week 3 (June 26-July 1): Renaissance Week. “My Lords and ladies, the kingdom of Camp-o-lot returns again to Asburyia.” Dine at the round table; dance ‘round the maypole; greet each other with a chival-rous flourish. Your life of faith will cata-pult forward.
Week 4 (July 3-8): Party in the USA. Celebrate our nation’s birth with an old-fashioned picnic, stirring patriotic music, and red, white & blue decor. A sparkling week, filled with fizz. God bless Amer-ica!
Week 5 (July 10-15): Nightlife Week. Chase your moon-shadow. Glow in the dark. Extended evening activities capture the wonder of night at Camp Asbury.
Week 6 (July 17-22): Grow Week. Green is the color of growth. Every-where you look plants and animals are growing—and so are you. Grow with the flow and give thanks for a harvest of God’s blessings. The berries are ripe and ready to pick.
Week 7 (July 24-29): One Last Go Around. Choose your favorites from Asbury’s repertoire of fun. You and your counselors relive the best of the best. Anything goes—this final week of camp—well almost anything.
