Critical machine parts such as gearboxes can be monitored by means of vibration analysis to ensure the early detection of damage and to prevent a possible total failure. The compact diagnostic system efector octavis evaluates the vibration signals according to methods of frequency analysis.

Another important characteristic is the temperature of the hydraulic oil. A precisely measuring temperature sensor is connected to the TR7432 evaluation unit. It signals overtemperature and undertemperature to the temperature controller via two switching signals.

Temperature measurement on a hydraulic power pack

TR2432: Control monitor for temperature sensors, for Pt100 and Pt1000 measuring elements, 4-digit alphanumeric display, switching output, analogue output 4...20 mA or 0...10 V, IP 67, ambient temperature -25...70 ºC, range: -40...300 ºC, M12 connector

TT1081: Temperature sensor for connection to evaluation units, range: -40...150 ºC, probe length 160 mm, IP 68 / IP 69K, M12 connector, liquid and gaseous fluids

The speed monitors from ifm electronic are used for speed monitoring, e.g. in the sugar industry. An inductive sensor which detects a damping cam on the shaft is used as pulse pick-up. The speed monitors calculate the rotational speed by evaluating pulses. If the current values are above or below the set limit values, the transistor and relay outputs are switched. This allows, for example, reliable overspeed and standstill detection.

Speed monitoring

DD2503: MONITOR, single pulse evaluation system with µprocessor for frequency; rotational speed; speed and machine cycles, 2 relay outputs, 2 transistor outputs, analogue output, 0/4...20 mA, programmable, test function without external frequency, key function, IP 50, ambient temperature -40...60°C, dual chamber terminals 2 x 2.5 mm² (2 x AWG 14)

IGT247: Inductive socket, M18 x 1, full metal housing, DC PNP, sensing range 5 mm, flush mountable, IP 68 / IP 69K, ambient temperature 0...100 ºC, M12 connector, gold-plated contacts

The LDP100 particle monitor monitors the contamination of oils. The LDP100 particle monitor monitors the cleanliness or contamination level of liquid media, preferably mineral, ester or bio-oils. The integrated data memory permits the analysis across a larger period of time. The LCD display indicates the purity class.

LDH100: Oil humidity sensor, measurement range, medium temperature (T), -20...120 ºC, relative humidity (φ),2 outputs 4...20 mA, M12 connector

IO-Link is a fieldbus-independent point-to-point connection. Via IO-Link, digital, reliable and loss-free transmis-sion of the parameters is ensured. The signal transfer from the sensor to the controller is possible without any problem. For the transfer of an analogue signal to the PLC several conversions from analogue to digital and vice versa are necessary.Type KI capacitive sensors detect the level in a cane sugar mill through a non-metal tank wall.

In industrial processes valves are needed for dosing and control. Pneumatic valve actuators are normally used for mechanical positioning. The valve position must be monitored electronically. The T5 range contains two inductive sensors for “open / close” detection of an actuator movement by means of target pucks. The digital output controls the solenoid valve of the pneumatic valve actuator.

Position feedback in a cane sugar mill

AC2316: Dual sensor for actuator feedback, 2 inductive position sensors integrated, version 2.1 with extended addressing mode, 2 inputs / 1 output, sensing range 4 mm, non-flush mountable, IP 67, ambient temperature -20...70 ºC, M12 connector

The O1D photoelectric distance sensor detects the vertical roller position in a sugar mill. It is easy to install and has two switching outputs, one of which can be configured alternatively as analogue output. The vertical roller position in a sugar mill is usually detected via position transmitters. They detect the target value which is needed to control the water quantity, for example. The position transmitters do not detect the position reliably, however, and in addition they have a high purchase price.
