Relief Efforts• Local authorities overwhelmed and unprepared to deal with
disaster of this scale as Nepal saw serious political instability in past 2 decades
• Aid pledges pouring in
• Nepal ill equipped to make full use of these resources – Countries lined up to donate technical expertise to address this problem
• Nepal government’s poor effort to centralize relief support highly criticized and the mobility of resources are slow and there have been news of resources misappropriation

Current State• Many of the already poor roads
cut off by land slides
• Rural area is yet to see any rescue effort or relief support
• Support concentrated in accessible areas
• Many areas without power, electricity and any means of communication

Our Focus – Saurpani Village, Gorkha (near epicenter)
• 100% of the houses damaged – most of them flattened
• The little village houses 20 families
• 4 Families lost their loved ones
• Several Injured

• No rescue or relief efforts
• Derelict road cut of by land slide
• At-least 4 hours of off road travel
• We were the first team to arrive with supplies
