Warm Up:

Why do you think Jesus was crucified?

Homework:

Read page 168-175 define the 7 key terms and places and answer questions 1-4 ALL PARTS

There is always a reason Crucifixion was used as a form of punishment and

deterrent. Those crucified would not die quickly, they would

suffocate over long periods of time.

Criminals crucified on the side of the road that leads into a city.This acted as a warning to any visitors who entered to follow their rules.

Before Jesus died

Jesus knew he was going to be killed so he held a dinner with his friends and gave one last teaching. This is known as the last supper.

On the day of his death Jesus was killed as

a result of people believing he was a liar and that he was deceiving people.

His punishment was broken in 14 parts called the stations of the cross.

died it is said that his body was removed from the cross. Cleaned and buried in a tomb behind a huge stone.

The resurrection

It is believed that 3 days after his death Jesus rose from the dead. This is called the resurrection.Resurrection: revival from inactivity and

disuse

After he rose from the dead he visited certain disciples and gave them instructions on how to spread his teachings.

This is why Christians celebrate Easter
