The 2011 lecturewill be delivered by the distinguished photographer, V. Tony Hauser , whose photographs of individualsfrom present and past seasons of Stratford Summer Music are on display in a number of store windowsin downtown Stratford. Thisconcert is kindly endowed by the Patrick Hodgson Family Foundation.Jan Lisiecki , an extraordinary young man whom BBC Music Magazine dubbed ``...perhaps the most'complete' pianist of his age”, returns to Stratford Summer Music for his only Canadian summer festivalmajor series. At age 17, he has recently been signed by Deutsche Grammophon for recordings and byIMG Artists, the prestigious international management agency. For 2011, Chris Donnelly represents a new generation of jazz pianists, a fact celebrated by his peerswhen his first album, Solo, was nominated for a JUNO jazz award in 2008. The internet magazine AllAbout Jazz called him ̀ `...a pianist of unbridled talent, sublime technique and an impulse to adorn thesound of music.`` In 2009 he was nominated as Best Keyboardist of the Year at the National Jazz Awardsand when he recently graduated from the Masters in Jazz Performance division of the University of Toronto, his student awards included one for the graduate deemed to have the greatest potential tomake an important contribution to the field of music.

Andrew Gant , conductor of the British monarch`s personal choir, The Choir of the Chapel Royal, andorganist/composer to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, returns to Stratford Summer Music to present hissecond series on the history of music, this year focusing on the Anglican tradition of choral evensongservices. The fine Guelph choral ensemble, Tactus Vocal Ensemble , will again act as Dr. Gant`sdemonstration chorus to illustrate his lectures with musical examples. Series runs August 11 th, 12 th, &13 th . He has taste, and, what is more, the most profound knowledge of composition ."So wrote Joseph Haydn in 1785 to the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when he had heard theyoung composer`s tribute in music. Mozart, who had studied Haydn`s scores and particularly his stringquartets which were considered to be a revolutionary, new form of musical expression when they firstappeared, wrote 23 string quartets during his life. The six beautiful quartets dedicated to Haydn werewritten in Vienna between 1782 and 1785 and it was in January and February, 1785 that the old masterheard `his`six quartets at two concerts in Mozart`s own home. Stratford Summer Music welcomes ayoung and promising string quartet from Toronto – the Annex Quartet – to perform all six of thesemasterpieces. Series runs August 18 th , 19 th, & 20 th.

As a composer, lyricist, and bookwriter, Jonathan has written over twenty originalpieces for theatre, including AfterImage , Variations on a Nervous Breakdown and Fear of Flight . CalgarySun theatre critic Louis B. Hobson wrote in one of his reviews: “Monro deserves to be compared to suchgiants as Sondheim and Lehrer”.
