As an art form, the still life takes familiar objects and helps us see them in a new way. Poetry, whether the focus is objects, places, or relationships, does the same, so send us your poems on any subject that help us see the world with new eyes.

Still Life is a community literary journal open to all Saginaw, Bay, and Midland County residents—or to all visitors to the Saginaw Community Writing Center or Bay Community Writing Center.

Poems will be judged in the following age categories:

• Age 12 and under • Age 13-18 • Age 19+

Up to three cash prizes will be awarded.

Submission Guidelines• Limit your entry to 3 poems. Each poem should be no more than 40 lines.• In the body of your email, provide your name, age, title of your poem, and contact information (phone, address, and email). • Attach your entry as a .doc or .docx file, with your name, the title of your piece, and Still Life Poetry Contest as your subject line. • Submit your work to writingcenter@svsu.edu.• All entries are due by July 15, 2020.

The 2020 issue of Still Life will be released in Winter 2021.
