ROSEHILL TRIALS: Tuesday 30 September 2014

Heat 11 - 9:55am 3yo C&G Maiden Trial (900 Metres) Stewards intend to interview co-trainer James Cummings relative to Tempered Strength, which he co-trains and which was engaged in this heat, being incorrectly presented to start in Heat 10. Tempered Strength was subsequently withdrawn and did not start. Stewards made an order on the day that Ruling Dynasty, which Mr Cummings also co-trains, which was the horse drawn to compete in Heat 10, be moved to Heat 11and it did compete in this heat. Announcements were made on the day prior to Heat 11 being run. Mr Cummings will be interviewed at a time and date to be fixed. GENERAL: Stewards today completed the riding skills assessment as ordered under AR92A with apprentice S Clenton subsequent to her ride on Can I Have at Wyong on Friday, 5 September 2014. The inquiry today was assisted by Riding Skills Monitor M Johnston. It was the recommendation of the Riding Skills Panel that apprentice Clenton be more aggressive and more assertive on her mounts in future. Apprentice Clenton agreed with the Riding Skills Panel that she had been somewhat complacent in that she had expected Can I Have to lead and when the horse did not display the speed she anticipated she did not show the proper judgment to push forward and be more aggressive and lead when the opportunity arose. LATE RIDING CHANGES: As T Angland was overweight, the following rider substitutions were approved: Race 1 A Hyeronimus on Pincer Strike

Race 3 B Shinn on Royal Vanquisher

T Angland was fined $100 under AR 120(b). RACE 1 – H Q E – Aussie Duct – Evolt Maiden Handicap 1000m Jet Stream was slow to begin. Perfect Moments began awkwardly. Shortly after the start Tribe shifted out and hampered Pincer Strike. County Crown was inclined to lay in passing the 400m. Rounding the home turn Tribe hung out and carried Perfect Moments wider. For some distance approaching the 150m Jet Stream was disappointed for a run between Sapphire Lass and Tribe, which shifted out marginally. Apprentice S Lisnyy (Onslow) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the finish of the race. A post race veterinary examination Tribe revealed the gelding to have lost both front plates. Trainer M Johnston advised that Tribe will now be spelled. A post race veterinary examination of Sapphire Lass did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 2 – HPM Legrand – Hills – Electra Maiden Plate 1600m Broadway Bullet was checked at the start when crowded between Thelongbrown, which shifted in, and Apocalypto, which shifted out. approaching the 300m, shifted out when not clear of All Is Bright resulting in that runner being steadied. J McDonald was reprimanded. Approaching the 150m Le Bijou shifted in and made contact with Rochallor resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. When questioned in relation to her riding of Rochallor, apprentice W Costin explained that she was instructed to ride in a forward position, similar to the gelding's previous start at Kembla Grange on 9 September 2014. She said that after beginning well she rode along in the early stages to comply with her instructions, however rounding the first turn near the 1400m when Thelongbrown showed superior speed, she allowed that runner to cross and lead in anticipation of shifting one off the fence and establishing a position outside Thelongbrown. She said, however, that after allowing Thelongbrown to lead, Le Bijou improved to her outside and she was unable to do so. She added that from the 500m when placed under pressure Rochallor responded to her riding only fairly. Apprentice W Costin was advised by Stewards that in their opinion she had erred by not making more of an attempt in a moderately run race to hold the lead approaching the first turn. A post race veterinary examination of Rhatigan revealed the rig to have bled for the first time from both nostrils. Trainer G Ryan was advised that Rhatigan would now incur the mandatory three months ban from racing. RACE 3 – Prysmian – S A L Maiden Plate 1100m He's Our Toy Boy, Powerline and Touch Heaven began awkwardly. For some distance passing the 400m He's Our Toy Boy overraced and improved onto the heels of No Equal resulting in He's Our Toy Boy clipping the heels of No Equal, blundering, shifting in and crowding Powerline which was checked. On straightening He's Our Toy Boy shifted in and hampered Powerline. Powerline was unable to obtain completely clear running in the straight and approaching the 50m had to be steadied away from the heels of No Equal. He's Our Toy Boy hung in when placed under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride. RACE 4 – Brilliant LTG – Repelec Class 1 Handicap 1000m Pilot Error began awkwardly. Rainbow Bridge was slow to begin. Lovelife overraced in the early and middle stages. When questioned T Clark (The Artist) explained that the mare, which was resuming from a spell, began awkwardly and laid in in the early stages. He said while he rode the mare along it laid in and in a fast run race could not muster sufficient speed and settled well back. He added that The Artist, which was some distance from the leaders, resented kick back, however when under pressure from the 400m finished its race off well. When questioned in relation to the performance of Rainbow Bridge, A Hyeronimus explained that he rode along in the early stages to take up a forward position, however Rainbow Bridge never travelled in the early and middle stages and as a result settled back in the field. He said that when placed under pressure from the 500m Rainbow Bridge responded well to riding and in his opinion would be better suited in races over further distance. RACE 5 – Omega – Matchmaster – Lummax LTG Maiden Handicap 1200m Snow White and Oxford Art were slow to begin. Mansqui began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Morena and Sicilian Miss began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn Mansqui was hampered and taken wider after being crowded by Rubycue (T Clark) which shifted out. T Clark was told to exercise more care when shifting ground. Shortly after straightening near the 200m Diggler was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of In Vino Veritas. RACE 6 – I.P.D. – Osram Class 2 Handicap 1200m Crooked Stick was slow to begin. Annatime and Prinsengracht made contact at the start. Bully Bully began awkwardly. Prinsengracht raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and was inclined to lay out. Rounding the home turn The Special Two was briefly held up on the heels of Hickory Lad which laid in. RACE 7 – Clipsal Schneider Benchmark 65 Handicap 1350m Bandit Bay had to be steadied on jumping when crowded by Vision Spendid, which was taken in by Crimson Ruby. RACE 8 – N H P – Gerard Trade Supplies Benchmark 60 Handicap 1600m Pressure Drop missed the start (2L). Rounding the home turn Saturday Saga was taken wider by Blue Phantom which hung out. part of the straight. Apprentice S Clenton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of Lukey, other than the gelding in her opinion may not have run out a strong 1600m. Trainer J Deamer advised that Lukey will now be spelled. When questioned regarding the performance of Blue Phantom, J Parr explained that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure from the 400m Blue Phantom commenced to hang out rounding the home turn and weakened in the run to the finish. He added that in his opinion Blue Phantom may not have run out a strong 1600m. A post race veterinary examination of Blue Phantom did not reveal any abnormalities. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Pincer Strike Race 2: Le Bijou, Thelongbrown, Envision, Touch Heaven Race 5: Diggler Race 7: Black Pirate Race 8: Blue Phantom, Slade Amigos, Pup
