Perhaps one of the most obvious great things about staying near Hyde Park, is that you are staying near the Hyde Park. One of the best ecologically manicured gardens with more than 400 trees, lakes, ornamental gardens and pathways for one to cycle, jog, run and walk on—these are just a few things that make up the Hyde Park. However, located in Central London, Hyde Park is not the only good thing of staying near the park. We will explore more in the following paragraphs.

You can catch up with a fascinating series of monuments and buildings such as The Serpentine Bridge or the Achilles status. There is the Memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales which comprises 545 pieces of Cornish granite and reflects Diana’s life through the flowing waters from the highest points through two directions, cascading and swirling until it meets at the pool at the bottom. Achilles Statue, on the other hand, commemorates Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington and is located near the Queen Elizabeth Gate at Hyde Park Corner.

For those with green hands and other nature lovers, Hyde Park has space for a wide diversity of flora and fauna. Even the meadow area is flocked by beautiful butterflies feeding off the native wildflowers. The trees, shrubs and other plantings provide a rich atmosphere for a variety of birds, such as the robin, dunnocks and the tits.

You can also keep your eyes and ears open for the frequent concerts that take place at Hyde Park, among other large scale events. The Speaker’s Corner is among the favourites to listen in on opinions and stories, while you can do your bit of verbal contribution too. An interesting feature in the Hyde Park is the Royal Gun Salutes that mark special occasions throughout the year. Outside Hyde Park, there is no limit to the places you can devour with your curiosity. Those artistically inclined can visit the British Museum, the Wallace Collection, the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, Globe Theatre, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Billy Elliot at Victoria Palace Theatre. Popular attractions include The London Eye, London Zoo, St James's Park, and the Kensington Gardens. Central London is an apt shopping destination and you can find yourself at the Selfridges store for a West End experience, the Oxford Street, and Harrods in the heart of Kensington. Hyde Park is also home to some of the oldest mansions, essentially the Val-Kill, the only National Historic Site dedicated to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, which also comprises a guided tour and depicts almost down to the detail of the way it was when Eleanor Roosevelt called this place home. You can also visit the 54-room mansion of Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site or Hyde Park Historical Society Museum.

Area near the Hyde Park hold a good list of hotel names and you can take a pick, from budget lodges to high end luxury hotels that will make your experience richer. During Christmas, this area is lit up beautifully. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park for instance is a perfect occasion to get in the yuletide spirit and take part in the festivities. There is ice skating, big top shows, the observation wheel and a huge Christmas market.

Hyde Park is connected to the rest of London through five Underground stations located on or near the edges of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens (which is contiguous with Hyde Park). They are Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, Queensway, Lancaster Gate, and Marble Arch.

Bayswater tube station, on the Circle and District lines, is also close to Queensway station and the north-west corner of the park. High Street Kensington tube station, on the Circle and District is very close to Kensington Palace located on the Southwest corner of Kensington Gardens. Paddington station, served by Bakerloo, Circle and District, and Hammersmith & City lines, is close to Lancaster Gate station and a short walk away from Hyde Park.
