2. STARMUS FESTIVAL 2014 The festival is an event where "the greatest minds in spaceexploration, astronomy, cosmology, and planetary scienceget together for a week of incredible talks, sharing ofinformation, and appreciation of the knowledge we have ofspace and the universe. Hawking delivered the keynote lecture of this second editionof Starmus, whose theme is "Beginnings: The Making of theModern Cosmos" and took place at the Ritz-Carlton Abama inTenerife (Canary Islands), from 22 to 27 September 2014. Hawking was accompanied by a variety of internationallyrenowned speakers, including astronauts, cosmonauts, astronomers, cosmologists, chemists, biologists and NobelPrize winners. The physicist also joined the round table to be held in theGran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), the Observatory of Roquede los Muchachos in the island of La Palma 3. STEPHEN HAWKINGSLECTURE 4. STEPHEN HAWKINGSLECTURESTEPHEN SAYS:Because there is alaw such as gravity, the universe can andwill create itself fromnothing.http://www.hawking.org.uk/the-origin-of-the-universe.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eAzmOEURU8 5. The Origin of Universe STEPHEN SAYS: Universe exists because ofspontanous creation The universe began with theBig Bang, which simplyfollowed the inevitable law ofphysics, Because there is alaw such as gravity, theuniverse can and will createitself from nothing.Spontaneous creation is thereason there is somethingrather than nothing, why theuniverse exists, why weexist. The universe didn't needa God to begin; it was quitecapable of launching itsexistence on its own, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs-yWMuBNr4 6. No black holes exist,at least not like wethink, they do nothave event horizonsQuantum mechanics to the blackhole picture and found that theyaren't quite black. Instead, theyshould emit small amounts ofradiation, causing them to shrinkand eventually evaporate, theywould take all traces of what fellinto them with it. The informationwould not, in fact, be conserved. Itwould vanish. 7. LIVING ON MARSStephen Hawking has predicted that humans will be livingon Mars by the end of the century. The physicist claimed thatthe human race needed a plan B as the world struggled tobalance finite resources with the demands of a rapidlyexpanding population.http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/other-shows/videos/stephen-hawkings-universe-colonizing-mars.htm 8.
