This is a press release I wrote for Starlight Children's Foundation Midwest, a nonprofit serving 20,000 families of children with disabilities in the Midwest. It was a post-event press release about Starlight's annual Gala fundraising event, which aimed to recognize those who helped with the event as well as generate buzz for upcoming events. STARLIGHT CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION MIDWEST’S 23rd ANNUAL GALA
HONORED CHICAGO BEARS CHARLES TILLMAN
Chicago, IL (June 22, 2010) – On May 22 Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest
(Starlight) honored Chicago Bears Charles Tillman at their 23rd Annual Gala for his dedication and commitment to improving the lives of critically and chronically ill children.
The night sparkled as over 250 guests came together to support Starlight. This
year’s Gala raised an astounding $231,500 which will allow Starlight to continue to provide programming for seriously ill children and their families throughout the Midwest.
The Gala began with a cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres and a Silent Auction where
guests bid on an assortment of one-of-a-kind opportunities including a scenic flight over the city where the highest bidder could take the controls during liftoff. Guests then made their way to the Ballroom to be greeted by the festive sounds of
Entourage. An elegant dinner was served followed by the Live Auction where guests could bid on the opportunity to go to the movies with Charles Tillman.
Also in attendance were four Starlight families who will be sure to remember the night forever. One of the Starlight children, Kira, described the night as “My best
memory yet!”
