Star of Bethlehem

Page 2: Star Of Bethlehem

What would be Christmas without the Christmas star? It's hard to imagine. Even the Christmas Eve dinner, you can not start until the first star shine. This star - according to St. Matthew - has been leading of the Three Wise Men

to the little Jesus.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he

who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him." When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all

Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it is written by the prophet: `And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who

will govern my people Israel.'“ Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star appeared; and he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him bring me word, that I too may come and worship him." When they had heard the king they went their way; and lo, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came

to rest over the place where the child was.Mt2,1-10

Astronomiczne zjawisko, które można uznać za gwiazdą betlejemską musi spełniać kilka warunków.

First and perhaps most obvious - it had to happen in the period in which Jesus was born, or a bit earlier. It had to be clearly visible on a fairly much of area. It had to be unusual or very rare The first man, which began this angle to wonder what was the Star of Bethlehem, was a great astronomer, physicist and mathematician John Kepler. After a tedious calculation he reached the conclusion, that the Three Kings have not seen of a star but a phenomenon, which in astronomy is called a conjunction of planets i.e. their mutual setting, during rotation around the sun, in one line (as seen from Earth). According to Kepler, the birth of the Savior was preceded by a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on the background of the constellation Pisces. The same conclusion arrived modern astronomers, after analysis of ancient sources. Moreover, calculations show that the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurred in one year till three times. This is such a rare coincidence that there can be no mistake in the calculation. For the first time it happened May 27, the second time September 15, and a third time on 1 December. It follows from this that Jesus was not born on Christmas Day, but rather in the middle of the year. The only problem is that these three conjunctions occurred up ... 7 years before Christ. How to explain it?

Całego zamieszania jest winny mnich imieniem Dionizy. At the command the Papal Chancellor of Boniface he had to start measuring

the time from the birth of Christ. This happened in 523 AD.Dionysius, to avoid confusion, decided to take as the year of birth of Christ a year 754

AUC (ab urbe conditio - from the founding of the city) which is the year of foundation of Rome. At it overlapped with the problems of introducing a reform of the calendar, that was started BC, by Julius Caesar. Taking into account all available sources and

making accurate calculations, we conclude that Christ was born 7 years before our era.But those informations we treat only as curious detail. At the Salvation History is not

important whether the Birth took place in December or in May, it is important that Christ came into the world and made the our Redemption.

Other explanation for the Christmas star imposes itself. Star on the old pictures looks exactly like a comet and moves along the celestial sphere. But the problem is that few comets

visible to the naked eye. In fact, the only one who could be considered (bearing in mind the latitude) is Halley's comet. But this one appeared over Bethlehem,

in 11 BC, and it is certainly too early, so there could be a witness of the birth of the Child.

There is a theory that telling that the Star of Bethlehem this is so-called supernova. Explosion gives so much energy that supernovae can be seen even in the day (as they are close enough) Brightness of the star can then be increased from 10 - 100 million times. The calculations, observations, and the old Chinese chronicles prove that in the middle of the fifth year before our era, had a place of supernova. Shortly afterwards (at the end of February, the fourth years p.n.e) there was another supernova explosion. It is impossible to assess what is the probability the imposition of so many rare astronomical phenomena So it can not be excluded that the Star of Bethlehem is not just one phenomenon, but all at once. There is no doubt that the three Magi (as the wise) were of excellent experts of sky. Perhaps they were astrologer; astronomy and astrology at wealthy manors of rulers in the East was very well developed. It should not therefore surprising that the Magi from the East, immediately noticed the phenomenons, that usually do not appear in the sky. Evangelist Matthew writes that they went in the wake of the star, and when the star stopped to move, this meant that they were on the spot.

There are other interpretations of the "star of Bethlehem.„Seventh Day Adventist Church” based on

writings by Ellen G. White believes that "star" was a "bright host of angels" sent out by God, who should show

the way the Magi.
