SUMMER CAMPS OVERVIEW

Camp DiscoveryRising PreK - Grade 1 Students • 9:00am - 3:00pmDirectors: Paula Brock and Jaime Falk

A full-day camp where students have the opportunity to meet new friends, discover new skills, and explore the outdoors. Each day, students will immerse themselves in the magical world of Wildwood Cottage. This age-appropriate program offers children dynamic experiences based on their developmental age and interests. Unlike a traditional camp, each day at Camp Discovery is packed with unique themes such as animal educa-tion, engineering with nature, STEAM — and it doesn’t stop there! Children will leave each afternoon with a sense of accomplishment, confidence, ever-lasting smiles, and discovery.

Camp StanwichRising Grade 2 - 4 Students • 9:00am - 3:00pmDirector: Alex Fornaciari

Campers will enjoy a full, action-packed day geared toward fun, hands-on exploration, and learning in a safe environment. Rich learning experiences promote active participation through arts, crafts, music, physical fitness, dramatic play, and games. New this year are a number of hands-on STEAM-based activities (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), nature walks through our backyard, and exciting off-campus experi-ences. It is also a wonderful opportunity for students who will join the Stanwich community in September to be introduced to new friends and teachers.

Camp SeasideRising Grade 4 - 7 Students • 12:00 - 3:00pmDirectors: Jen Corcoran and Amy Kerekes

At Camp Seaside, students will be transformed into young marine scientists. This hands-on program seeks to raise awareness about marine environments and stimulate an interest in the sciences through a variety of fun and engaging activities. Students will investigate our local waters and marine habitats of the sandy beach, tidal flats, rocky intertidal zones, salt marshes, and the open water. Using local resources as well as the Triskelion, the Stanwich marine science research vessel, students will deepen their appreciation and understanding of marine science.

Scholar InstituteRising Grade 4 - Grade 7 Students • 9:00am - 12:00pmInstructors: Jenn Giametta and Christi Wong

The Scholar Institute is a 2-week program designed to help students improve reading fluency, deepen comprehension skills, develop basic writing and paragraph writing skills, apply vocabulary skills, and solidify and develop important math skills. Students will be taught through small group lessons and one-on-one instruction. This will help teachers to meet the individual needs of each child and assess him or her using a variety of methods.

Weekly StructureWk 1: Begin reading required grade

level book. Learn techniques for writing strong paragraphs. Begin summer math work.

Wk 2: Finish reading required grade level book and begin Values book. Continue to learn and practice techniques for writing strong paragraphs. Continue working on summer math work.

Rising PreK - Grade 1 Students9:00am - 3:00pm
