The Facts!Anyone can be involved in theater-not just majors.
Theater rehearsal time doesnʼt conflict with anymajor musical organizations. Rehearsalsgenerally are five nights a week for four to sixweeks before a show opens.
Be Involved! Audition for an acting role. Production work is available in scenery, properties, costumes, lighting, sound or publicity. Students that work on productions can earn a .25 course credit. Student work is also available in the Theater department.
We have five productions a year. One is usually a student directed production. We also have aOne Act Play Festival where upper level students direct.
20 Student Design Positions are available every year in all production areas, as well as some assistant positions.
DeepEnd is a student run theater organization that performs and sponsors several student productions throughout the year.
Alpha Psi Omega (Zeta Mu chapter) ofThe National Theater Honor Society focuses on service projects on campus and in the community.
Opportunities in the Theater Department:Internships or independent study. Opportunities to work with theater professionals including actors, directors, designers & playwrights. Study abroad with the interim course - Theater in London.

Faculty have expertise in all areas of theaterFaculty & staff work at professional theaters throughout the year.
Other Connections with Professional TheaterArtists, designers and directors from regional professional theaters visit campus giving workshops and working with classes.
Students and student groups attend professional theater productions during the year. St. Olaf College is located less than one hour from Minneapolis & St. Paul. Only New York has more theater seats per capita than the Twin Cities.
Graduates have interned with Guthrie Theater, Minnesota Opera, Penumbra Theater, Orchestra Hall, Cricket Theater, Conflict and Change Center at the Humphrey Center, Stepping Stone Theater, Disney World, MN Playwrightsʼ Center, Great American History Theater, Ordway Theater, Children’s Theatre Company, Jungle Theater, Theater in the Round, Mixed Blood Theater, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Center Stage in Baltimore.
