A Disciple's Path In the tradition of St. Matthew’s, we are forming our small groups in for a six week study to begin April 13th, after Easter. Session 1 - A Disciple’s Path Defined Session 2 - Prayers Session 3 - Presence Session 4 - Gifts Session 5 - Service Session 6 - Witness These six sessions should sound familiar, as they are our Membership Vows that we commit ourselves to when we become a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church. The Course Materials are a Daily Workbook and a Companion Reader. Look for more information over the weeks of Lent as we prepare to have a Holy Lent and Easter. Pastor Stan

Saturday, March 7, we had a fun talent show, "Night of a Thousand Stars," with a lot of great acts and a large audience. DVD's of the show are available from Mike Summers for $10. We are also still accepting donations marked "Talent Show" to go toward our General Fund budget. It's never too early to think about your act for next year! Mike Summers

I was hungry and you gave me food

EASTER DINNER BOXES Thank you to all the families that took a bunny home to shop for those “some bunnies” who needed a helping hand this Easter. Your generosity is very much appreciated by the families who receive the meals. Thank you and God Bless, Judy Saute

I find it amazing that a very simple act of kindness can leave an amazing impression on the recipient. And I do believe we often start a chain reaction. St Matthew’s is active with a number of groups that do the distribution leg work if we provide the need items.

MANNA is located in Thousand Oaks. They do an amazing job of distributing food/hygiene/baby

products to those who live in the Conejo Valley and are in need of a helping hand. All non perishable items are welcomed. Check them out: www.mannaconejo.org JamesStorehouse is located on Old Conejo Road. They are an organization that helps foster children( infant through age 21) in Ventura county. They are always in need of new or gently used cribs and twin beds, clothing, new sheets. In March they do a special drive for gently used formal wear. www.jamessstorehouse.org

Labels for Education & Boxtops for Education This a national program that can benefit our local schools. Take a moment to clip these labels which are on many of our most used food times – they are worth 10 cents per label toward school items

that are not in the school budget. (Let us know if your school participates in this program). Check out labels-foreducation.org and /or boxtops4education.org. We – each and every one of us – can make a difference – probably more then we may ever know.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration on May 3 Supports Imagine No Malaria and Mission Trips

Pastor Stan not only loves to talk about food during his sermons, he wants to share his passion with us! Come join him on May 3rd when he will provide food for our bodies while satisfying our hunger for community. After the second service, there will be a Mexican Buffet. All sorts of goodies from carnitas to enchiladas will be prepared. You will be able to build your own burrito, taco or tostada salad! It is a time to eat and fellowship together, while at the same time supporting two very worthwhile projects – Imagine No Malaria and a future Mission Trip. Malaria kills a child in Africa every 60 seconds and 655,000 people worldwide each year. These statistics are even more alarming, because malaria is a preventable and treatable disease. Malaria can be eliminated with the right tools: prevention, treatment, education and communication.

Proceeds from the luncheon will also be set aside to fund a future Mission Trip such as our trip to Kentucky in 2012, our trip to Oklahoma in 2014 and recent youth trips to Los Angeles. So, come, join the banquet! We will have fellowship and fajitas, queso, carnitas and conversation, sopa, salsa and sowing seeds of the Good News beyond the walls!

ForTheTroops is located in Simi Valley, and was started by a couple of local women who had children in

the military. They send “care packages” to our enlisted men and women. You can add a personal touch to a “We Care” package by writing a letter, signing a greeting card or coloring a picture for one of America’s brave heroes. Our troops love hearing from supporters back home, and a lot of them write back! Please contact FTT at forthetroops.org for suggested guide lines and most needed items (baby wipes are usually #1
