A Note from Fr. Bill Condolences
We pray for the repose of the soul of …..
George Strack
Wayne Wittry
St. Mark extends condolences to the
families. May God grant eternal rest to
them and His consolation to their family
and friends. May the souls of George and
Wayne and the souls of all the faithful
departed, through the mercy of God, rest in
peace
Opportunity for Service: We have openings for
volunteers to serve in the Liturgical Ministry as
Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, and in
Hospitality at our 5:30pm, 7:30am, and 11:45am Masses.
Please prayerfully consider and email Angi Swiezy [email protected]
Saturday funerals are becoming more and
more popular for a variety of reasons.
When school is in session it is easy to find
students to serve at Funeral Liturgies, but
on weekends and during school breaks it is
a bit of a challenge. Therefore, we are in
the process of getting adult volunteers to
be Adult Altar Servers. We are hoping to
get 8 to 10 volunteers. There will be one or
two sessions for training and explaining
how to serve a Mass of Christian Burial. All
adult men and women of the parish are
welcome to participate. Please prayerfully
consider. Contact Jean Milharcic

St. Mark Heartfelt Quilters
Try something new for summer relaxation!
Even if you've never quilted before, you are invited
to join St. Mark Heartfelt Quilters
on Monday afternoons from 12:30 to 2:30 or
Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00
in the Cenacle building on Smock Street (south
end of school parking lot).
Experienced quilters enjoy teaching newcomers
as we get to know one another,
share our talents, and find our place in the parish
community.
English Practice and
Citizenship Classes
Sincere thanks to the
nineteen facilitators
who met weekly with
non-English speaking
adults for English
Practice and
Citizenship Classes
during this past year. These students were
members of St. Mark Parish and other
neighborhood churches. There were many reports
of laughter and fun during the practicing English
experience and ALL improved! Many students
passed their Citizenship Test and are so proud to
be our fellow Americans! It is not an easy task.
Classes will resume in September and anyone
interested in facilitating any of the classes can
contact Ginny O’Brien

On Wednesday of Holy
Week our food pantry crew
pulled special duty at the
pantry. When we took a
break...we encountered
this scene. No it did not
rain purple gloves. They
belonged to the eighth grade girls from Immac-
ulate Heart of Mary School here in Indianapo-
lis. The entire school from youngest up were
having a service day around town. The girls we
met at the pantry were not repackaging cook-
ies...or bagging oranges...they were scrubbing
down the entire front of the pantry—-the client
area. It was hard, hard work and they did a
great job! One of the best things about working
at the pantry is meeting volunteers from other
parishes.
Here at St. Mark
we continue to
respond to a
flurry of re-
quests from the
citywide Help-
line.
