Cassidy Nettles is the winner of the children’s stewardship envelopes.

Easter Alleluia! Christ is risen and is victorious over sin and death! We are good stewards of our faith if, like St. Paul, we share this good news whenever and wherever we can.

Family Stations of the Cross: Thank you to our volunteers that participated in our Family Stations of the Cross; Paul and Sean Reilly, Eli Robb, Gretchen Theis, Isabelle Acuña, Julia Rowley, Esther Aguilar, and Mary Grace Theis. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead by example and prayer.

Appreciation: Our third graders did it and now some of our fourth graders…prepared ‘get well’, ‘hope you have a nice day’ cards in class. The cards were distributed by our Communion Ministers during visits to area hospitals and nursing homes. These cards are such a blessing – if any class or group wants to participate, please bring them to our Parish Center.

Bishop’s Adult Initiative for the Rite of Confirmation In an effort to “open wide the doors to Christ” for the people of our diocese, Bishop Kevin Farrell has extended the permission for pastors to confirm adults in their parishes on Pentecost, May 27, 2012. In this light, St. Mark the Evangelist, through Bishop Farrell, invites our practicing adult Catholics (18 years of age and out of high school), who lack the Sacrament of Confirmation, to be sealed with the fullness of the gift of the Holy Spirit.

If you are currently a registered member of St. Mark the Evangelist and a practicing adult Catholic in good standing and have already received the Sacrament of Baptism and Eucharist, you are invited to register and attend the preparation class on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, beginning at 7:00pm, in the Main Conference Room of the Smyth Pastoral Center. Sponsors are welcome to attend and all participants are asked to bring a Bible with them to the class. Adult Confirmation will be celebrated on Pentecost, Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the 9:00am Mass.

To register for the Adult Confirmation preparation class, the following information must be turned in to the Faith Formation Office prior to attending the class.

Registration Form for the Bishop's Adult Initiative for the Rite of Confirmation (additional copies available on our website or the Parish Office) a copy of Baptismal Certificate with notations (if no notations are listed, we must have a copy of First Communion certificate, and if married, a copy of the church marriage certificate) a letter of good standing from the Sponsor’s parish*

*Please note to be a sponsor for the Sacrament of Confirmation, the following is required: he or she must be a baptized Catholic who has received the Eucharist and been Confirmed, and who is currently living a sacramental life (e.g., attending Mass regularly, making use of the sacrament of Reconciliation) and if married, in a marriage recognized by the Catholic church; be at least sixteen years of age; lead a life of faith in harmony with the ministry they are undertaking and have the intention of undertaking the ministry of a sponsor; they may not be the parent of the individual to be confirmed (parent may stand in as proxy, if necessary)
