Design of Space

The objective of this project was to construct an 8’ x 8’ x 8’ space to be occupied. The space was a place for viewing resting, and also for promenade. Moreover, the team was given a specific site to locate their space, where the team accounted for different elevation changes throughout the site.

Construction & Insertion

The construction & insertion project was about the documentation of a series of drawing over the Engineering Research Center at the Universi-ty of Cincinnati. Starting with a series of diagrams that represent arrival, threshold and promenade space. Moreover, it was asked to document a set of measure, drawings including sections and elevation. Finally, the assignment ended by making a physical abstracted section of the building, and we were to include an insertion of any material to diagram the flow in the space.

In this exercise one needed to create an armature for a plaster block. The final design was chosen af-ter 10 iterative processes. Where the student want-ed to approach this armature by lifting the plaster cube off the ground, that way, its aspects would be easy to appreciate

This assignment was based on the building analysis for the Design lab class which con-sisted on the analysis and process on what elements are important in the building as well as to identify critical landmarks. The fi-nal work was a combination of sections, ele-vations, and sketches, as well as the insertion.
