Our RosterAlton has hosted several high school, collegiate, amateur and professional sporting

events. We are prepared to accommodate the following sports: softball, baseball,

soccer, tennis, golf, fishing, hockey, figure skating, volleyball, football, basketball,

swimming and track & field. Some of our past tournaments include the following:

Accommodating Your NeedsThe Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau is at your service. We will gladly

send out your RFP to applicable venues in our region. Upon selecting a venue to host

your sporting event, we will go to work for you finding the necessary lodging, banquet

River, Alton, Illinois is centrally located in the Midwest. The Alton Regional

Convention & Visitors Bureau is here to serve you and assist your organization

Gordon Moore Park is the premier facility in the region for soccer, baseball and softball. In collaboration with other parks in the region, we can increase the number of fields available to accommodate larger tournament needs.

During the summer months, there are several high school

and recreational tournaments played at the Simpson Tennis Center, which features 8 tennis courts.

The real gem of the park is the Arnold

Palmer designed golf course, Spencer T. Olin, which was the host of two U.S.

Championships. Gordon Moore Park is

located at 4550 College Ave. in Alton, IL.

Gordon Moore PArkLocated on the east side of Alton, the 702-acre Gordon Moore Park has been host to collegiate, high-school, recreational, and

invitational sporting events. The park contains 19 soccer fields, two

of which have lights. These fields host recreational soccer matches,

3v3 tournaments, and is home to the Alton Redbirds High-School

soccer team. There are two lit baseball diamonds used as the home

field for the local high schools, American Legion leagues, and several

collegiate games. The ASA State softball tournament is also played on

our four lit softball diamonds.

Godfrey PArksThie 10-acre Godfrey Ball Park features eight baseball fields, six of which are also used for softball, a soccer field and a playground. The park has available seating, concessions, restrooms and parking to accommodate up to 200 vehicles. Godfrey Ball Park is located at 810 Stamper Lane in Godfrey, IL.

Glazebrook Park is home to all of Godfrey’s special events, including the Great Godfrey Maze. The park features five soccer fields and is equipped with concessions, restrooms and parking to accommodate 200 vehicles. Glazebrook Park is located at 1401 Stamper Ln. in Godfrey, IL.

Golf

The athletic facilities in Wood River have played host to ASA Softball Tournaments, as well as the Wood River Triathlon, which brings nearly 900 competitors annually. Emerick Sports Complex is an eight acre complex containing three lighted softball fields and one baseball field. There is a concession stand, a lake for fishing and soccer field. Emerick Sports Complex is located 6th St. and Park Ln. in Wood River, IL.

Wood River Soccer and Skate Parkis a 43-acre park containing two lighted regulation soccer fields, one unlighted practice soccer field, skateboard park, parking, concession stand and stadium bleachers. Wood River Soccer and Skate Park is located at 2551 Rockhill Rd. in Wood River, IL.

Hidden along the Mississippi you’ll discover some of the most magnificent

golf courses this side of the river. Whether you want to play on the course

designed by Arnold Palmer himself, or take it easy on one of the areas nine-

hole courses, Alton has the dream course for you.

Our perfectly sculpted courses have been hosts of the 1996 U.S. Women’s

Amateur Public Links Championship, the 1999 U.S. Men’s Amateur Public Links

Championship and is home to the St. Louis Metro Area’s oldest family owned and

operated course. Anticipating golfers of all skill levels, the perfect round of golf is

right around the bend in Alton.

Principia College’s pristine athletic facilities

include the 100,000 square foot Coach Crafton Athletic Center which holds a 200m indoor

track, pole vaulting, a sandpit for the long jump

and triple jump, collegiate basketball courts and

collegiate volleyball courts. The Natatorium is

an NCAA compliant 40 meter stretch pool with

an electronic timing system and three diving

boards — two 1m and 3m diving boards. The

Hay Field House is a multilevel fitness facility

containing four volleyball courts and six basketball

hoops. The Hexberg Indoor Tennis Center houses 10 competition tennis courts, perfect

for tennis play all year round. There are an

additional 6 outdoor tennis courts. Clarksfield

is the competition football/rugby field with a 400

meter track surrounding it, with stadium seating

for 800 people. The track is a 6 lane 400 meter

track with a long jump /triple jump sand pit,

pole vault station and high jump station.

The Godfrey campus of Lewis & Clark Community College offers athletic

facilities for basketball, soccer and tennis. Most notably, the campus’

Andy Simpson Tennis Complex has hosted the USTA Men’s Futures

Tennis Tournament for the last 14 years. Players from all over the world

converge on the region during this 10-day tournament. The Riverbend Arena on the campus houses two regulation sized basketball and

volleyball courts with seating for 750 spectators.

eAst Alton ICe ArenAIf hockey is your game, the East Alton Ice Arena contains a 200 by 85 foot

ice rink that is home to the East Alton Skating Academy and the Twin Bridges

Hockey Association. The Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville Cougars

and several local high schools also use the facilities for hockey and ice sports

events. The arena is also the perfect venue for figure skating competitions,

with seating for up to 500 people, concessions and pro-shop. The East Alton

Ice Arena is located at 631 Lewis & Clark Blvd. in East Alton, IL.

In 2005, a world-record breaking 124-pound catfish was reeled in on the

banks of the Mississippi River in Alton, IL. The Alton region has played host

to a number of angler competitions, including: Illinois Bass Federation State

Tournament, Cabela’s King Kat Tournament, Riverbend Catfish Tournament

Trail and SeaArk Boat Owners Invitational Catfish Tournament. In partnership

with first-class marinas and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, we are ready to

help your group catch the big one all around Alton.
