This year we have employed a member of staff as a lunchtime sport coach to assist with all sporting activities. He assisted Sports (UK) Ltd with the PE lessons and the afterschool clubs and also runs other after school clubs to ensure all sports/activities are covered. He worked with the Schools Sports Co-ordinator to enable school to attend tournaments and also ran the training session for Little Strikers, which offered children from 1 - 6 years a safe andnurturing environment which encourages all aspects of mental and physicaldevelopment through football; this uses specially designed equipment for children withparental participation to develop key skills; The equipment for Little Strikers was bought with money received from a Lottery Grant. A staff member who also received this training has taken over since June 2015 and will carry on in the new academic year.ImpactPhysical education contributes directly to development of physical competence and fitness at Fagley Primary School. It also helps pupils to make informed choices and understand the value of leading a physically active lifestyle. The good physical education we offer has a positive impact on both academic learning and physical activity patterns of our pupils. We believe that a healthy, physically active pupil is more likely to be academically motivated, alert and successful in life skills.

Through the government sports grant, we are able to provide the following for our children:

Wider sporting opportunities for all children introduced to new sports/activities including dodgeball, tri-golf, ultimate Frisbee, cross country, rugby, multisports and handball. Specialised curriculum teaching in every year group. Additional after school sports for a variety of year groups. Every year group had the chance to participate in a sporting festival against other schools and received additional specialist teaching in preparation for the festivals. Additional equipment purchased enables more focused skill development. A whole class set of equipment ensures maximum participation. Through membership to the East 1 Partnership (15 primaries and 2 upper schools) and Hanson schools sports, the children have access to much broader opportunity for competition.

As a result of increased knowledge, skills and understanding in PE: The uptake in extracurricular sporting activities has increased and all clubs run at full capacity. Sports (UK) Ltd have arranged competitions and festivals, with children attending after school clubs which work up to these competitions. Some of our children have won awards for both winning and team work. We have also worked closely with the Hanson Partnership and the Sainsburys School Games and have also arranged friendlies in Tag Rugby, Rounders and football.

Sport and Competitions at Fagley Primary School includes: Football Gymnastics Dodgeball Street dance and Cheerleading Basketball Athletics Netball Tag rugby Hockey Cricket One child picked for Bradford County Cricket Multi skills Karate Handball Rounders Cross Country Swimming

The enthusiasm for competition has certainly increased and school are now in a position to make team selections from a number of keen participants. Teachers have reported that children are now fully engaged in PE lessons and enthusiastic about furthering their knowledge. As part of our Forest School learning in school the children have also had orienteering training which also helps with physical fitness and geography. All year 5 children attend swimming lessons each week
