    In this panoramic view of the Spitfi res cockpit you can see 1940s state-of-the-art f S fi ftechnology that helped make this iconic fi ghter one of the most feared aircraft of

    the Second World War. This impeccably restored Spit will be performing all threeS S fdays at this years Abbotsford Airshow.

    The Spitfi re is one of the most recognizable aircraft from the Second WorldWar. This British-built, single-seat fi ghter plane was a common sight in the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries during the war years.

    It was originally put together as a short-range, high-performance interceptor, and its main role was to shoot down incoming German bombers. However, the aircraft was highly adaptable, and with wing variations, theSpitfi re was able to be tasked as a trainer, carrier-based fi ghter, for photo reconaissance or as a fi ghter-bomber.

    The original Merlin engine, fabricated by Rolls-Royce,put out 1,030 HP, and in later iterations, carried theGriffon powerplant, capable of generating 2,035 H2,035 HP.

    The Spitfi re featured at the upcomingoming Abbotsford S o s c ad C ec osAir Show is clad in Czechoslovas o a a a gs,slovakian markings,

    and saw air combat in tht in the late 1940s. It was fl own by Flight Light Lieut. Karel Posta, a highly decoratedorated fi ghter pilot, who earned the CzCzechoslovakian War Cross fi ve times,Medal of Valor three times, along with the French Croix de Guerre, and several otherawards.
