James Griesse, Ph.D.Assistant Professor of Spanish

James Griesse earned his Ph.D. in Spanish Americanliterature at the Catholic University of America(Washington, D.C.) He has traveled to and studied inseveral Latin American countries, including Mexico,Venezuela, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Cuba.Dr. Griesse studied for an academic year in Puebla,Mexico, and for a trimester in Salamanca, Spain.His research focuses on postmodernism, postcolonialtheory, and literary representations of utopias anddystopias in contemporary Latin American fiction.Dr. Griesse joined USCB in 2008; he teaches coursesin Spanish language and Spanish American literature.
