Welcome to the ‘Southport Contemporary Arts’ 7th Annual Arts Trail

Our aim is to celebrate the arts community in which we live and work. A community that makes such a valuable contribution to the cultural life of our town. Each year the event grows and develops its own personality, but the cause remains constant; to build the creative voice of our fabulous town, showcase the artistic and creative presence and make it easily accessible to residents and visitors alike.

We are very grateful to all who support the Arts Trail, both individuals as well as businesses and organisations, who have made huge efforts to make this a truly joined up creative event.

This year the Arts Trail forms an integral part of ‘Southport Festival’ which, supported by Southport BID, recognises the breadth of creative talent that everyone can enjoy, as part of life in Southport. The Festival runs over 3 days- 6th/7th and 8th May and is made up of Music, Poetry, Visual Arts, Literature and Comedy. There will be events all over the town centre and it promises to have something for everyone.

Excitingly the SCA Arts Trail will again feature the chainsaw carving event, ’Carve Up the Coast’. This year with even more carvers competing against each other, and lots of traditional skills activities for you to get involved with. We also welcome a special talk and a demonstration from acclaimed textile artist Patricia Greaves, and are delighted to be able to feature back-stage tours and workshops with the SDC at the Little Theatre. Our brand new ceramics studio ‘ClayWorks’ will also be welcoming its Þrst ceramicists and visitors.

This year’s exhibitions and sales of work will include Painting, Textiles and Photography, and you’ll be able to give lots of things a try yourselves with our ‘Have-a-go” sessions. Our ever popular Open Studios offer you the chance to meet the artists, and pick up some tips and unique artwork.

We have endeavoured to keep events free, but some small local charges may apply

Don’t forget to tell your friends about all that’s going on and share the fun!

You can Þnd full details about this exciting event by visiting www.sca-arts-trail.co.uk
