Alpha Kappa Alpha’s international president, attorney Carolyn House Stewart, captivated the audience with her stimulating address, entitled, “How Timeless Is Your Service?” She encouraged members to honor their service by being resilient and successful, and maintaining a habit of continuous service. The event’s theme was “Honoring Our Legacy Though Timeless Service.” Michelle M. Jones, Zeta Chi Omega Chapter served as the 2012 Metropolitan Founders’ Day Committee chairman. The co-chairmen were Tracey D. Watkins, Xi Upsilon Omega Chapter, and Karen N. Washington, Lambda Kappa Omega Chapter. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority International President Carolyn House Stewart The 2012 Joint Army – Air Force Military Ball was hosted by the Howard University Army – Air Force ROTC units at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. With all the pomp and circumstance coupled with the decorum and protocol of a formal military ball, the cadets and their special guests lifted up the proud traditions of these two military services with the entrance of the head table and posting of the Colors followed by the invocation and blessing of the meal. After several toasts and a special POW/MIA presentation, the guests dined on a sumptuous dinner. The highlight of the evening came when cadets were recognized for their achievements with the Cadet Superior Performance Award which was topped off by the keynote address given by Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, commanding general, Joint Force Headquarters, D.C. National Guard. The evening concluded with a Ball and the cadets danced the evening away. Lt. Col. Tyra Sellers and Lt. Marvin Sapp. The “Evening with Marvin Sapp and Friends” also included Eric Wardell, the Abundant Life Singers along with Kenny Davis and the Melodyaires. Rev. Sapp kept everyone singing with some of his biggest hits, Never Would Have Made it, The Best in Me and Praise Him in Advance. His latest single, My Testimony, is scheduled for release on April 3. The 2012 Joint Army – Air Force Military Ball was hosted by the Howard University Army – Air Force ROTC units at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. With all the pomp and circumstance coupled with the decorum and protocol of a formal military ball, the cadets and their special guests lifted up the proud traditions of these two military services with the entrance of the head table and posting of the Colors followed by the invocation and blessing of the meal. After several toasts and a special POW/MIA presentation, the guests dined on a sumptuous dinner. The highlight of the evening came when cadets were recognized for their achievements with the Cadet Superior Performance Award which was topped off by the keynote address given by Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, commanding general, Joint Force Headquarters, D.C. National Guard. The evening concluded with a Ball and the cadets danced the evening away. Lt. Col. Tyra Sellers and Lt.
