Beloved Family,
It is such an incredible privilege to
be able to minister alongside of you
at FBC Douglass! I am so excited to
see our church making preparations
to send a mission team to Nebraska.
As we join with North Park Church of Columbus to pro-
vide assistance in the planting of a new church in David
City, our church will be participating in our Lord’s Great
Commission in a very tangible way.
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (HCSB)
Working to establish new churches, or “church plant-
ing” as it is commonly known, has become a vital part of
Southern Baptist strategies, particularly in the United
States and Canada, through our North American Mission
Board. While I am convinced that Scripture insists that we
must be diligent not to forsake the spiritual nurture and
development of existing churches, the practice of planting
new churches can reach significant numbers of lost people
with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many such people might
never have darkened the door to an existing church, but
the unique niche or fresh energy of a church plant is often
able to convey the Gospel to them in a penetrating way.
Currently, there are two church plants which are affili-
ated with our local South Central Association of Southern
Baptists, and at least two more should be joining the
SCASB in the next few months. More are on the horizon!
FBCD financially supports two of these church plants
with $3,000 per year each. Our David City mission is also
directly supportive of church plant-
ing. I praise God for your vision to
support church planting and your de-
sire to see the Gospel planted and
growing throughout our nation!

Love David City, Change David City!
June 10-16, 2012
FBCD ON MISSION! FBCD is making preparations for a mission trip to Ne-
braska! God has laid it on the heart of North Park Church
in Columbus, NE to plant a new church in nearby David
City. FBCD has committed to “Love David City, Change
David City!” and will come alongside our brothers and
sisters in Christ to help with the start of this new church.
Our mission team will depart Douglass following
lunch after the morning worship celebration on Sunday,
June 10 and will return Saturday, June 16. During their
stay in Nebraska, the mission team will help North Park
Church conduct two events in David City: a youth rally
and a block party. To promote both these events and the
new church, we will canvas the David City area with pro-
motional flyers.
FBCD members who feel led to participate in the trip
should provide $50 toward their expenses (due Wednes-
day, June 6); however, do not let a lack of finances keep
you from going on this trip. If you believe that the Holy
Spirit is leading you to participate, but money is a prob-
lem, please contact Pastor Voyt Lynn. Scholarship funds
are available. A Collection for the Saints...
In addition to the work being done on the field by the
mission team, we will also send along a love offering for
the new church plant. FBCD is collecting free will gifts to
the Love David City, Change David City! fund. Those

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words Each Sunday through May 6, pho-
tographs will be taken for the new
FBCD directory. If you would like to
have your family’s picture taken,
please meet in the Student Ministry
classroom after the morning worship
celebration. There is no cost. The direc-
tory is being put together “in-house.”
AWANA Clubbers Receive Awards FBCD’s AWANA Clubs will celebrate the clubbers’
hard work this season with Awards Night on Wednesday,
May 9 at 6:30 p.m. The awards night is a family and
church-wide celebration of the clubbers’ achievements,
and parents and friends of AWANA clubbers are invited to
attend. This will be the last meeting of FBCD AWANA
Clubs until the beginning of the next school year.
NEW GROWTH GROUPS BEGIN JUNE 6 Three new Growth Groups will begin at FBCD Wed.,
June 6. Experiencing God will be offered again with Pas-
tor Voyt Lynn facilitating. Jerry and Janice Spencer will
lead another group into a study of worship drawn from
Tom Kraeuter’s book Worship Is… What?!: Rethinking
Our Ideas about Worship. Also, Becky Lynn will be lead-
ing a women’s group in the study of A Woman after
God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George.
Women’s Ministry Stays Active New Growth Group, Ladies Tea Forthcoming
We have had an exciting beginning with the Women’s
Ministry at FBCD! Previous events and Bible studies
have been well-received, and our ministry team is already
planning for 2013! Here are some of the things you can
look forward to for this summer.
Beginning Wednesday, June 6, Becky Lynn is leading
a study of A Woman after God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth
George. When we follow God in every area of our lives,
we experience lasting peace and joy.
In this study, we will discuss how a
woman can pursue God’s priorities--
in her walk with Him, in her mar-
riage, with her children, in her min-
istry--and become A Woman after
God’s Own Heart.
On Saturday, June 23, from 10:00 a.m. - noon, the
Women’s Ministry team will be hosting a Ladies’ Tea to
honor the women in our lives. If there is a woman or
young lady in your life who is special to you, please bring
her with you! Girls of all ages are invited--little girls up to
our wise and seasoned women! Please bring a snack or
finger food (with your recipe) and a tea cup for yourself
and each of your guests. Feel free to put on your fanciest
finery, including hats and gloves, if you wish. Please reg-
ister on the sign-up sheet in the church foyer.
Moms, do you need a day to get some things done or
spend time alone with your hubby? Have we got the day
for you! On Saturday, July 7, the Women’s Ministry team
is arranging a Mom’s Day Out for you from 9:00 a.m. un-
til 3:00 p.m. Just drop your kids off at the church any time
after 9:00 and pick them up any time before 3:00 and take
care of... whatever you need to take of! We will provide
lunch and snacks while your child is with us. Did I men-
tion that this is free?!!! A sign-up sheet will be available
for registration closer to the date.

Many of the youth in our student ministry will be par-
ticipating in the David City mission trip and are in need
of your help to raise funds.
On May 26, we will be holding a Lasagna Feed with
a silent auction. The youth group will begin selling Lasa-
gna Feed tickets on Wednesday, May 9 for $8 each. Any-
one interested in donating something for the silent auc-
tion is encouraged to contact Janey Mahlandt at (316)
213-0808.
Financial contributions to offset the costs of the mis-
sion team can also be made by noting “Mission Team”
on your check and offering envelope.
