Create consistent endoscopy retrieval and workflow with OnBase

Solution Summary | Healthcare | OnBase Universal Scope Capture

OnBase by Hyland’s Universal Scope Capture solution provides healthcare organizations a way to standardize endoscopy processes across clinical specialties. No matter what type of endoscope is used or the type of endoscopy performed, OnBase captures and indexes images at the point of care. The securely stored images are immediately available to clinicians electronically, in context. With OnBase, healthcare organizations can eliminate the expense of DICOM wrapping, storage and printing and improve the clinician experience – all while supporting patient care.

Captures images from any supported endoscopic deviceThe flexibility of the OnBase Universal Scope Capture solution lies in its ability to support most of the endoscopic devices that a healthcare organization currently has – or will have – regardless of vendor. It performs image capture across all clinical specialties – including gastroenterology, orthopedics, general surgery, pulmonary and urology. The solution also supports a variety of video sources often associated with clinical devices, including S-Video, HDMI, DVI-D, DVI-I and VGA. And, the solution works equally well for therapeutic endoscopic procedures like appendectomies or ACL repair.

Securely stores and archives images in contextOnBase automatically indexes images directly from the point of capture, securely storing them in context and linking them to the patient’s medical record. The new images are immediately available for review alongside any images that may already exist in the record and may be accessed from within the EMR by any authorized OnBase user across the enterprise. Once the images are archived, OnBase allows clinicians with the appropriate permissions to annotate images (adding arrows, ellipses, etc.), fostering greater understanding among clinicians. The annotation feature is also a powerful tool supporting patient education. Additionally, researchers are able to find the information they’re looking for as OnBase offers easy, thorough search functions that support queries as broad or as granular as necessary.

Mitigates image printing, wrapping and storage costsAt $.05 to $.10 per picture, the cost of printing thermal images quickly adds up. And, those hard copy images don’t provide organizations with a secure, long-term storage solution for diagnostic images. With OnBase Universal Scope Capture healthcare organizations can eliminate the need to spend money on printing, DICOM wrapping for standard VNA or PACS storage, or independent, potentially insecure storage methods. Rather than storing archival images on a USB drive, in a proprietary reporting solution or in a folder, electronically storing indexed images in OnBase offers healthcare organizations a way to archive images safely and efficiently.
