Step Two:

Create Your Profile This is your window to the world. Here’s the page that people when searching for you, will land at. So it needs to be good. You need to complete all areas so as to communicate to people exactly who you are. Remember this is a social community. Make your profile gleam with personality – not all business! Your welcome message in particular should show your personality. Make sure you upload a good clear, recent photo of your self. People like to connect with those they can see. Connection requests without a photo don’t get responded to by me and they end up in the delete bin. Make sure this doesn’t happen to you. Add some other photos about you, your life, family and work. People love to connect to a real person.

Step Three:

Join a Network Click on Settings on the top of your Facebook page. Then click on Networks and search for a network that interests you. It maybe determined by location, business, or interests. http://www.facebook.com/editaccount.php?networks

Join Groups Go to your Home page and enter in the Search Box – Groups

This will give you a general list of all Groups available from which you can further define. Let’s say you are looking for Real estate Groups. Enter that into the search box and you can categorize that further into professional groups or investing or whatever from the sub category button.

Step Five:

Talk to Somebody Get involved with people. After you’ve joined a few groups, visit them regularly and comment on the discussions that are taking place on a daily basis.

Make sure your comments are of value by offering good advice. This is not the place to be spamming your business, it’s services or products. People will be attracted to you by the good advice and tips you give. It’s then and only then you should discuss your business. Be patient! Creating Your Own Facebook Groups

This is one of the great tools where you can really control the content of the Group, who’s involved and what you want to promote. By creating your own Facebook Group you are the master! Invite people to join and allow good quality content to be posted but be wary of spammers. Delete all spam within your Group to ensure integrity. If you don’t, you’ll get a massive amount of people leaving your Group. And that’s not want you want. Why? Because your Group is your private database. It’s a collection of names that you as the owner and only you, can communicate directly with this list. This is extremely powerful and it’s one of the quickest ways to develop you as the expert in your field. But like the Group rules about spamming applying to Members, make sure you adhere to these rules as well. If you consistently send out direct emails about your current listings or upcoming auctions etc, people will unclick. Add some real value in your emails. Offer some freebies, talk about a new training skill you just acquired, discuss tips about building wealth via real estate, but not all about your business. Be personal. Don’t bombard your emails with links to affiliate programs or any other get rich quick scheme idea you may want to promote. This is not the place. Build your creditability and your Group will grow. And so will your new database. And it didn’t cost you a cent!

Now to create a New Group, simply got to your Profile and click on the Info tab Once at the Info page scroll towards the bottom to where you see Groups. Click on See All and this will take you to a page listing all the Groups you are a Member of. You have quite a few so as to connect with more people. At the Top of the page under My Groups you’ll see the ‘Create A New Group’ link Click on it and start building your New Group. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#/groups/create.php

Who do you invite to your group? Obviously most people with whom you are currently connected. But if they don’t fit into your targeted audience for your Group, then go to the ‘Search’ box and enter keyword terms that would fit into your criteria. For example if your Group was about Real Estate Investing, place that term into the search box and view the results. If the term mainly returns Page or Group results, that’s ok. You’ll just have to dig a little deeper. In the above example click on a Page eg Real Estate Investing and look inside. When I did this search I found Fan Pages with 4726 members, another one with 1,907 and so on. Choose one and go inside to see if this fits with what your Group is about and join. You will also notice a list of that Group or Fan Page’s members. Click on See All and invite people who have the same interests as you to firstly become a Friend and possibly later a Group member. Eg Real Estate Investing Real Estate Investors love to buy and hold, fix and flip, wholesale, subject to, lease option, or any other type of real estate investing

Invite People To Your Event

Are you hosting an Event with your business? It could be a grand Auction or perhaps an investor seminar in your office or hotel venue. Events can be held both online through webinars and teleconferences or offline at a venue you choose. Why not invite your Facebook friends? Well you can. And it’s simple. Go to the very bottom of your Profile page and on the left side click on Applications. In the pop up menu you should see the icon for Events. Click on it and you’ll be taken to a page where you can Create An Event. Complete & invite.

Real Estate Applications

Applications form part of the framework on Facebook for you to interact with others. They typically consist of things like alerts, business, chats, classifieds, events, food and drink just to name a few. Similarly if you have a specific need then you can develop your own applications (visit www.dapper.net ) or search existing ones already created on Facebook. Go to Applications at the bottom of your Profile page and select Browse More Applications. Search your desired request eg real estate,, real estate buyers, real estate sellers, real estate investing and you’ll be given a list of applications to apply to your Facebook page. Here’s an example of an application under ‘real estate buyers’

The Facebook Plan

Facebook offers you the potential to expose yourself onto 355 million accounts and growing. Knowing how to do this will help but taking action is where the real success will be created. While most of your promotions on Facebook will be free, it is your time that will be your biggest outlay. Your connections on Facebook need to be communicated with on a consistent and regular basis. The best way to achieve this is to have a plan. Here’s what I’d suggest you do for an hour per day; 5 days minimum per week: Add Friends (15 mins) Search for friends or industry targets and add them as a friend. If you are in real estate, target people in real estate, real estate selling, real estate marketing, real estate auctions or real estate brokers. Define your target by location including country, state or city. Search for people in specific real estate companies eg Coldwell Banker, Keller Williams, Ray White Comment (15 mins) Add comments to other discussions or blogs. Make sure they add value. Update Status (5 mins) Provide an interesting comment about what you are doing. Remember it’s not all about business. Quotes are good comments to make; especially motivational ones. Post Content (10mins) Add content from your blogs or website.
