Vision
Morganfield Elementary School strives to revolutionize education through a personalized approach that embraces competency-‐based instruction, measured by mastery rather than traditional seat time. Competency-‐based instruction will assist in transforming Morganfield Elementary School teachers into facilitators of personalized learning. MES Community of leaders will be catalysts for change. Professional development will assist in this journey to prepare our students for college and career readiness.
Personalized Learning Future
By the year 2017 and beyond, Morganfield Elementary Schools will ensure personalized learning by enabling our students to be leaders, implementing competency-‐based instruction, and guiding leaders to develop leaders. These three elements will drive our students to college and career readiness.
Strategies
Morganfield Elementary School students will complete annual surveys. These surveys will aid in creating a better learning environment as well as meeting the needs of individual students. Students will also participate in leadership roles within the school. In an effort to prepare our students to be career ready, they will be required to apply and interview for these leadership opportunities. These strategies will assist in creating leaders in our students.
Teachers will continue to implement competency-‐based instruction for students. Strategies to accomplish this element include use of individual goal-‐setting. Teachers will also analyze annually summative assessment data, non-‐cognitive data, and a variety of other data to develop the school improvement plan inclusive of the personalized learning plan.
The Morganfield Elementary School faculty of leaders will continue to help develop everyone’s leadership capacity. This will be accomplished through many strategies. Teachers will participate in appropriate professional development and put the new learning into action in the classroom. Teachers will participate in learning networks to enhance their classroom abilities. Teachers will also collaborate with others for a deeper understanding and analysis of standards, assessments, tasks through learning communities.
MES will strive to create college and career ready students. Teachers will facilitate student goal setting for college and career readiness and ensure they implement them effectively. School leaders will collaborate with FRYSC to remove the college and career readiness barriers and to provide training for parents that will give them the knowledge they need to assist students with their future goals. School leaders will also collaborate with Preschool to promote kindergarten readiness and better ensure a stronger foundation for our students.

Data, Insights, Research
On October 20, 2014 an MES leadership team met to analyze data and begin future plans. The team began with looking at the effectiveness of professional learning communities within Union County. The chart below shows their rankings.
MES PLC Observations Never Sometimes Often Always Collaborative Teams X Shared Understanding X Collective Inquiry X Action X Continuous Improvement X Results Orientation X Celebrating Successes X The above table showed the importance and value of professional learning communities to the staff of Morganfield Elementary School. It was apparent the importance of carrying on PLCs to assist in teaching and learning.
Other data consisted of Reading KPREP scores. Reading has been an opportunity for growth for MES for years. Our students consistently score higher in math than in reading. Below are some tables that show the data examined by the leadership team.
