We are in need of some service to our Lodge to make it more functional, inviting
and comfortable.
Our carpet is in need of replacing-even a good cleaning would be good for starters
An overall good thorough cleaning is needed throughout the Lodge
Even a new paint job would be nice
Please contribute what you can to our Building Maintenance Fund. If you cannot send a cash donation maybe you can contribute a needed item, service or some of your time.
First impressions speak wonders when visitors come into our Lodge. For this reason we need to stay on top of its maintenance and cleaning.
These facilities are available to all our members and others for functions and events.
Let's keep up the pride in our Lodge, by keeping up with its upkeep.
Please mail your monetary contribution to the Lodge stating that it is for the Building Maintenance Fund or call to make arrangements for donations of items or for volunteering to help with cleaning or other desired involvement.
Every little bit of help would be very much appreciated.
ADDITIONAL NOTE:
We are considering closing in the dining area to make it more of a smoke free environment for those of you who are non smokers. The majority of members that come into our Lodge on a regular basis are smokers. To make the Lodge totally smoke free, would very possibly be detrimental to our Lodge at this time. So we are trying to come up with a viable compromise.
The wall would also create a better atmosphere for families and children by separating the dining room from the bar area.
To accomplish this we would need supplies to build the proposed wall and to modify our exhaust system.
Your input on this matter would be very much appreciated. Please call Brenda Sreca @ 208-316-4770 with your thoughts or suggestions.
To send in donations for this project, please address your contribution to: Snake River Elks #2807, Attn: Brenda Sreca/Dining Wall Fund.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Know Your Signs and Symptoms Some heart attacks are sudden and intense; however, most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Often people affected aren't sure what's wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:
Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.
Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
Shortness of breath. May occur with or without chest discomfort.
Other signs. These may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or lightheadedness.
There is NO winning raffle ticket for the January 18th Monthly
Wednesday Night Dinner - 50/50 Raffle
We had some great Lasagna cooked by Brenda Sreca and Cyndi Bledsoe.
Turnout was poor due to the weather. Although, we were happy that everyone was safe and did not venture out far in the nasty weather. Thank you to everyone who did attended.
Have you made a payment on your Elk's National Foundation pledge yet this year? Do you want to start a new pledge? Please remember that ENF funds the MVS scholarships, drug awareness, hoop shoot, and legacy grants at the national level, In addition, the Idaho State Elk's receives most of its funding from ENF. Without ENF support the state won't have funding for hoop shoot, drug awareness, soccer shoot or Veterans. If you want to make a payment or have any questions, please contact Marvin Chamberlain at 734-4244 or [email protected]. Submitted by Marvin D. Chamberlain
Also, anyone interested in chairing an event, please call Brenda @ 208-316-4770. Help and ideas are always
appreciated.
A HUGE Thank You and much appreciation goes out to Justen Halcum for the donation of his time and supplies in painting the Ladies and Men's rooms in our Lodge. They look great!
A Very Big Thank You to all the members and the Helpers who
came out to the Snake River
ELKS area Hoop Shoot that was held at Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls on January 21st. Thank You again for supporting our youth. Without you none of this would be possible.
The Most Valuable Student applications
have been judged and the winners have been forwarded to the District level for further judging.
I'd like to thank the following members for their assistance in the judging: Carl Woodward, Gail Quinn, Russell Paceley, and Maria Yurkevicius.
The winning students were as follows: Janessa Orbon, Abigail Mendenhall, Michelle Keyes, Alexander Wirtz, Averey Strong, and Christopher Butler.
We received five male applications and eleven female applications that represented nine of the twenty-one high schools in our jurisdiction. Submitted by
Marvin D. Chamberlain Lodge MVS Chairman

The Snake River Elks Hoop Shoot was held January 21st and the turnout was good but not as many as expected. I think we are back on track with the program after a longtime away. Thanks to the many Elk members that showed up to help. Your help was very much appreciated. Everyone enjoyed themselves and things went smoothly. Thanks to Justen Halcum and his helper, Brenda Sreca. Justen took it upon himself to paint the Lodge bathrooms at no charge to the Lodge. What a great Elk! The first meeting in February is Past Exalted Rulers night, therefore the PER's will take over the meeting. At this meeting we will be voting on the changes to our By-laws and House Rules. I encourage everyone to attend. Your input is very important to our Lodge. In the last couple of months, some members that have been absent have reinstated. Welcome Back. I hope you find the changes that have been made are some of the reasons you came back and we look forward to your camaraderie. In the next couple of months elections for officers for the coming year will be held. We have three (3) chair positions and two (2) trustee positions open. I encourage anyone to step forward and be a part of running the Lodge. Positions open will be: Exalted Ruler, Loyal Knight, Lecturing Knight and 2 trustee positions, as well as the yearly openings of Secretary and Treasurer. If there is any position that you have an interest in running for or you would like to nominate someone, please come in and let us know. Your input is important.
