What is a smartphone?

A Smartphone is an advanced mobile device that broadens all types of communication more effectively and efficiently than a regular mobile device, it also adds features that you might find on a personal digital assistant (PDA) or a computer.

What smartphones offer? QWERTY Keyboard: A smartphone

includes a QWERTY keyboard, so the keys are laid out in the same manner they would be on your computer

Web Access: A smartphones offer some sort of access to the Internet. You can use your smartphone to browse your favorite Web sites.

Software: A smartphone will offer more than just an address book. It may allow you to create and edit Microsoft Office documents or manage your finances.

Are smartphones improving our lives?

YES!!!!!!!!

How? Because greater functionality is built-into the device, smart phones

can do things much more quickly than their standard mobile phone and PDA originators.

It allows you to be more organised - Smartphone handsets can function as personal organisers, with electronic diaries, contact lists, and automatic reminders.

Flexible working – similar to a PDA, you can use your smartphone to take notes, review and edit your appointments, contacts and documents, all while you're on the move.

Information is received immediately right in your hands - more and more services are being made available on smartphones, from access to maps and directions to television transmissions with news coverage or weather reports to traffic information and scheduling alerts - which means your business can always stay one step ahead of what's going on.

Advantages of using a Smartphone You will never be out of touch - you can connect to the internet for e-mail and

web access 'on the move', or connect to your computer network to access relevant data, wherever you are, making it easier for remote workers, or a mobile workforce to stay in touch with the business. And smart phones are user-friendly.

Better information sharing for everyone - considerably more data can be received and transmitted via a smartphone, such as large e-mail attachments or data files from websites. Previous mobiles could only manage small e-mails without attachments.

Greater functionality and features - many models offer built-in digital cameras with immediate snap and send functionality, so remote workers or offsite staff can instantly photograph and send images or videos of anything from supplier's goods to site inspections or damaged warehouse machinery. Smartphones could offer you a new way of marketing to customers, Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) lets you include animation, graphics and music in a message.

Faster communication - web access is quicker than in previously available mobiles, making it easier to access e-mail and information from the Net. Some models and carriers offer an 'always-on' internet access service making connection easier

Disagreed with the statement as smartphones has affected productivity in a positive way due to the increased number of sales.

It broadens our communication so swiftly that people are able to send and receive information more quicker than the average regular mobile phone.

Most smartphones are user friendly towards people, reducing people’s frustration over complicated technology and guiding them to make full use of its capabilities.
