In 1972, the Government of Gujarat leased 40,000 hectares of saline

land in Bharuch district for manufacture of salt. For Shree Ambika

Salt Works, this was a great opportunity to start its immensely

successful business of manufacturing common solt.

For its accomplishment, Shree Ambika Salt Works, wins the coveted

Best MSME Award for the year 2011.

The firm began by manufacturing iodised salt in 1983 with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes

at Dahej near Bharuch. Soon it forayed into production of industrial salt. The firm was

first to comprehend that chlor-alkali industry can trigger environment problems and

responded to it by installing indigenious fully mechanized washer to reduce elements

like calcium, magnesium and sulphates.

In 2006, the firm expanded manufacturing capacity to 80000 tonnes a year. To go

global, it is now developing large crystallisers to produce world class quality salt. The

entire salt production is untouched by hand. The emphasis on manufacturing

eco-friendly salt.
