Open Carnival Entry Trends
12
o Overall Open entries dropped 15% from last season after having recovered to 2010/11 numbers last year.
o Queenscliff Open Carnival needs urgent attention to reverse negative trend.
SNB 2015-2016 Carnival Participation & Experience Trends
Expected reversal of trend for Australia Day carnivals, with Interstate moving to Victoria – worst numbers ever for Manly since 2010/2011
Queenscliff Carnival numbers continue sharp decline
New events static or showing growth in numbers
Boat Carnival Entry Trends
13
o Boat entries continue to decline across most events o North Curly carnival was a one off hit with participants but numbers were never going to be big o Overall 44% decline since 2010/11 season (2,012 competitors) & 13% (399 competitors) since last
season, further impacted by cancellation of Premiership Round 4 o Boat Panel need to continue to work on reversing this decline

Junior Carnival Entry Trends
14
o Nippers overall have declined 10% (131) since 2010/11 and 2% this season compared to last season o Manly Nipper NATs numbers significantly increased mostly due to event now open to all Nipper age
groups i.e. U9 to U14 o Queenscliff Beach Carnival was again well received, and other craft only carnivals were also steady
with competitor numbers – this looks to be the future ? o 3 main Junior events declining – even Newport saw decline in its second year o Junior Branch numbers have also declined, potentially due to weather affecting timetable

4. Carnival
• Carnival Formats are changing to accommodate our Competitors and officials. – More short formats as this is what our competitors want – Trialing Saturdays so as to not take the kids away from nippers on
Sunday – Less officials needed to run these events – U14’s included into fast 5’s only if clubs provide water safety for
there board races
• SNB Carnivals once your competitors have signed on they must obey the carnival rules as set down in the carnival circular – Warm up in the areas provided – Pink rash vests to be warn during warm up – Jnr’s clubs to provide water safety.
• Composite teams will again encouraged for those smaller clubs
21
4. Carnival • Junior carnival need 125 officials to run the event with all
positions filled.
• This will be modified over the coming weeks to cover the carnival formats.

5. Officials
• Please encourage parents to become Officials as it’s a great way to get involved and support your kids.
• We will provide each club with a list of accredited officials and officials who are not accredited.
• Please when nominations are called for carnivals lets get these back within the time requested so the carnival referee can start their planning with the host club.
• We need the senior officials in your clubs to mentor and work with the younger officials
• Water only and Beach only should reduce the pressure on clubs to find officials as the time on the beach is reduced. – Newport Water carnival there will be 2 shifts for officials with
Jnr in the morning and senior in the afternoon
