When do I drop off my child? Each camp day starts at 8am and ends at 6pm Morning sessions run from 8am - 1pm or 9am -2pm.  Afternoon sessions run from 1pm - 6pm.  Its important to indicate part time session time choice on your booking forms. Please ensure you sign your camper in and out each day with a Sleepy Hollow staff member. For your child’s safety if you have nominated someone other than a parent on your Childs enrolment form to collect your child that person knows to come with ID ready to sign out your child. Please note repeated failure to pick your child up on time could result in withdraw from summer camp.  Late collection fees apply.

Can my child travel to and from camp on their own? Your child’s safety is very important to us. An adult, nominated on the enrolment form,  must collect campers at the end of Camp.  Sleepy Hollow defines an adult as 18 years of age or older.  What if I need to pick up my child during the day? You can call at any time through the day to pick up your child.  Note at some times we may be outside playing, in the school hall, on a walk to the local park so if you arrive and can't find us - telephone the Camp Leader as they will have the mobile phone with them at all times.  On trip days it is best if you make arrangements ahead of time. If you don't want your child to participate in a trip they are very welcome to attend another of our Sleepy Hollow Camps on that particular day.

Q&A

What should I send for lunch? We do provide breakfast, morning and afternoons snacks as well as water throughout the day.All children do need to bring in a packed lunch however.  These should be labelled as we refrigerate lunches during the day.Your child will be very active in our camp programs — playing games and sports, group games, indoor play and generally lots going on.  Children need healthy lunches and snacks to fuel this high level of activity— greater quantities of food than they would require in a lunch for a typical day at school. When you plan your child’s lunch, please keep in mind that we won't microwave or cook food at camp. Lunch suggestions: • Choose an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack to keep lunches and snacks fresh all day. • Freeze  water bottles the night before – the drink stays cool and refreshing and the frozen container acts like an ice pack!   Don't worry though fresh drinking water is provided at all camps sites. Send a refillable water bottle and we’ll remind your child to drink and fill it up during the day.   Snack Ideas: • Fruit • Yogurt : • Chicken strips and dip • Sandwiches / wrap / pitas • Crackers with slice cheese and meat Muffins; Veggie sticks and dip • Please note: Nut products are NOT permitted at any of our summer camps. Some of our campers have nut allergies, so please do not send your camper with nuts or any products that contain peanuts or tree nuts!

What should my child bring with them each day? DAILY CHECKLIST Breakfast and snacks provided daily so all campers need a packed lunch. Mark all clothing and equipment with the camper’s full name.  Please use summer camp bags  We will provide water bottles which must remain on site. Sunscreen Closed toed shoes – no flip flops or sandals please Dressed appropriately for play - we will get messy!  (ensure that campers wear play clothes as we want them to enjoy their experience without them worrying about getting good outfits dirty)

Q&A

Sun safe setting:-  Sleepy Hollow is proud to be a registered Sun Safe Nursery  As part of gaining our Sun Safe Nursery Status we are committed to ensuring that all parents/guardians are further informed and reminded of the importance of sending your child into camp with an appropriate sun hat and quality sunscreen. Sun hats should be either broad-brimmed or legionnaire style (to shade the face, neck and ears that can easily burn) and sunscreen should offer broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection with a minimum 4 star rating and Sun Protection Factor 30+. (Please label each item with your child’s name to ensure its safe return). As part of our commitment to providing a sun safe environment we also recognise that role models have a key part to play in influencing children’s behaviour in regard to sun protection practices. It is therefore important that our staff as well as parents and/or guardians are seen to be actively adopting the same sun safe practices. We have therefore also supplied each parent/guardian with a ‘Sun Safety Fact Sheet’ (included in this brochure)  provided by the national charity Skcin, for you to read and retain.

The following items are not allowed at camp: money, I-pods, radios, MP3 players, video games, phones, chewing gum, makeup, pen knives, any electronic equipment. What if my child needs medication at Camp? If your child needs medication during the day we will provide you with a medication form to complete at drop off.  Any prescribed medication will need to have your child's name, name of medication and dosage with the pharmacy label still on the medication.  Any over the counter medication will need to have the medical instructions on the bottle or in the box.   Any child requiring on going medicine or with any specific medical or dietary needs - we will require parents to complete a more detailed medical plan with you which we will do at induction.
