Possible Projects: Wikis"A website or similar online resource which allows users to

add and edit content collectively."

A wiki is software that allows users to create, edit, and link web pages easily. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. They are being installed by businesses to provide affordable and effective Intranets and for Knowledge Management. Ward Cunningham, developer of the first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, originally described it as "the simplest online database that could possibly work".[1] One of the best known wikis is Wikipedia.

Possible Projects: Advanced Course Management

Moodle: A course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. You can download and use it on any computer you have handy (including webhosts), yet it can scale from a single-teacher site to a University with 200,000 students.

DrupalEd: An engine suitable to setup or build a content driven or community driven website. Modular design allows flexibility in design. + Course management modules

Possible Projects: Document Management and Collaboration

Google Documents: A free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation application offered by Google. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users. Google Docs combines the features of two services, Writely and Spreadsheets, which were merged into a single product on October 10, 2006. A third product for presentations, including technology designed by Tonic Systems, was released on September 17, 2007.

ZOHO: Zoho is a suite of web services offered by AdventNet. The different web services can be accessed with just a browser & an internet connection. The best part is you don't require to install any software on your computer.

Possible Projects: PodcastingPodcast: A collection of digital media files which is

distributed over the Internet, often using syndication feeds, for playback on portable media players and personal computers. The term, like "radio", can refer either to the content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster.

WordPress: A semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.

PodPress: A podcasting plugin for WordPress.

Possible Projects: Social Bookmarking

A method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.

In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.

Possible Projects: Open Source Software

• Computer software for which the human-readable source code is made available under a copyright license (or arrangement such as the public domain) that meets the Open Source Definition. This permits users to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified form. It is often developed in a public, collaborative manner.

• An SJA Open Source Software CD/Thumbdrive to all incoming freshmen.

Possible Projects: Voice Collaboration and Communication

Voice Threads: An online media album that can hold essentially any type of media (images, documents and videos) and allows people to make comments in 5 different ways - using voice (with a microphone or telephone), text, audio file, or video (with a webcam) - and share them with anyone they wish. A VoiceThread allows group conversations to be collected and shared in one place, from anywhere in the world.

Evoca: Web-based voice recording and conversation organizerSkype: A software program created by the Swedish and Danish

entrepreneurs Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis. Skype allows users to make telephone calls over the internet to other Skype users free of charge, or to landlines and cell phones for a fee.
