All the data in this report is based upon a series of surveys conducted among several groups. A consumer survey conducted among 532 homeowners who have were
involved in either a Kitchen or Bathroom remodeling job. A survey of new home builders, with a sample size of 259 builders. A survey of 126 residential remodelers. And a total of 161 general contractors.
Residential Kitchen & Bath Market
The U.S. residential Kitchen & Bath market is estimated at $134.1 billion Remodel and Replacement (R&R) account for nearly two thirds of the total
residential market, or $85.2 billion. Construction of new homes contribute 36% of the total, or $48.9 billion.

Spending for Bathroom products is nearly equal to that for Kitchen products. Bathroom products captured $66.8 billion, or
49.8% of the total. Total spending for Kitchen products is $67.3
billion.
Remodel & Replacement Segment
Residential Remodel & Replacement (R&R) contributes $85.2 billion to the U.S. economy
Bathroom products represent 42% of the R&R market segment, totaling $35.5 billion

Most of the spending for bathroom R&R goes into Major or Complete Bathroom remodels, accounting for nearly nine of every ten dollars spent.
“Minor” includes replacement and minor remodel jobs
“Major” reflects both major as well as complete remodel remodels
Spending for Bathroom Products $66.8Billion
Consumers and Professionals spent $66.8 billion in their Bathroom remodel or replacement jobs.
The top two product categories, Showering and Flooring, account for nearly one third (30%) of Bathroom spending.
Other product categories each capturing more than 10% of the Bathroom remodeling dollars, are Bath Vanities, Bathtubs and Countertops.

Remodeling accounts for over half of the spending, or nearly $36 billion.
The value of spending for Bathrooms in single family construction is second in importance, with well over a third of the dollars.
Not surprisingly, new multi-family housing is the smallest of the three segments, with less than one-tenth of the Bathroom dollars.
