    1. Connecting the Web LCT to the IDU

Connecting the Web LCT to the IDU properly is a prerequisite for future dataconfiguration and for other commissioning items.

    Prerequisite

The equipment must be powered on.

    Tools, Equipment, and Materials

    Web LCT

    Procedure

1.1 Start the laptop and log in to the operating system.

1.2 Set the IP address of the laptop.

The IP address of the laptop should meet the following requirements:

The IP address of the laptop and the IP address of the NE should be in thesame network segment (the default network segment is 129.9.0.0), and the IPaddress of the laptop is different from the IP address of the NE.

The subnet mask of the IP address of the laptop should be the same as thesubnet mask of the IP address of the NE (the default subnet mask is255.255.0.0).

    The default gateway is null.

1.3 Use a network cable to connect the Ethernet port of the laptop to the NMS/COMport on the system control, switching, and timing board.

    CAUTION:

  • Site Commissioning Procedure Security Level

    2012-08-07 HUAWEI Page2, Total25

Ensure that the network cable is properly connected to the Ethernet port of thelaptop and the NMS/COM port on the system control, switching, and timing board.Otherwise, the equipment or test tool may be damaged.

    NOTE:

The NMS/COM port on the system control, switching, and timing board is a self-adaptive port for crossover cables and straight through cables. Thus, a straightthrough cable can also be used to make the connection. For the wire sequences ofcrossover cables and straight through cables, see Network Cable in the OptiX RTN980 Radio Transmission System IDU Hardware Description. In this case, the indicators at the Ethernet port and the NMS/COM port are on(green). If the operating system on the laptop allows the prompt for localconnections, the prompt that the network has been connected is displayed. If theoperating system displays the prompt indicating the collision of IP addresses, change the IP address.

1.4 Optional: Set the IE to the default browser.

1.5 Optional: Set the security level of the IE to medium or lower.

1.6 Optional: Disable the interception function for pop-up windows.

    NOTE:

If the other plug-ins also intercept pop-up windows, disable the interceptionfunction.

1.7 Optional: Set the options of the IE.

    a. Run the IE.

    b. Choose Tool > Internet Options in the tool bar of the IE.

    c. On the Common tab, click Settings in the Internet Temporaries box.

    d. In Check for newer versions of stored pages, click Every visit to thepage, and then click OK.

    2 Creating NEs

    2.1 Using the Search Method

The Web LCT can find all NEs that communicate with a specific gateway NE by using the IPaddress of the gateway NE, the IP address range of the gateway NE, or the NSAPaddresses. In addition, the Web LCT can create the NEs that are found in batches. Comparedwith the method of manually creating NEs, this method is faster and more reliable.

    Prerequisites

The communication between the NMS and the NE must be normal.

The NE user must have the authority of Operation Level or higher.

    Tools, Equipment, and Materials

    Web LCT

    Procedure

2.1.1 In NE List, click NE Search. Then, the Search NE dialog box is displayed.

    2.1.2 Select the search mode.

2.1.3 Optional: If Search Mode is set to Search NE, you need to set the networksegment.

    a. Click Manage Domain. The Manage Domain Search dialog box is displayed.

    b. Optional: Click Add, and set Domain and Domain Address to add anetwork segment.

    c. Optional: Select an existing network segment, and click Modify to modifythe network segment.

    d. Optional: Select an existing network segment, and click Delete to delete thenetwork segment.

    NOTE:

During initial configuration, Domain is 129.9.255.255 by default. After the gateway NE IP

address of the searched NE is changed, you need to change the value of Domain. The

default network segment cannot be modified and deleted.

    2.1.4 Click Search.

2.1.5 After the Web LCT finds the NEs to be managed, click End Search.

2.1.6 Select the NE that needs to be added and click Add NE.A dialog box is displayed, indicating that the NE is added successfully.

2.1.7 Click OK.A new NE is already added to the NE list.

    2.1.8 Click Cancel.

    2.2Using the Manual Method

You can only create NEs one by one by using the manual method. The manual method, unlike the search method, does not allow creating NEs in batches.

    Prerequisites

You must be an NM user with NE operator authority or higher.

The communication between the NMS and the NE to be created must be normal.

If the NE to be created is a non-gateway NE, the gateway NE to which the NE to becreated belongs must be created.
