Kathy met her husband Bill while living in Mt. Sinai and had their first date at the Oktoberfest in Port Jefferson. Kathy was raised in Hicksville along with her 2 sisters and her brother. There she attended St. Ignatius Loyola School and then Our Lady of Mercy Academy. She continued her catholic education at Nazareth College of Rochester. She received her Masters in Special Ed from CW Post and studied Theology at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington. Kathy taught at St. William the Abbot in Seaford and St. Philip Neri in Northport, upon her college graduation. She began her career at St. Louis in 1992, where she was responsible for Grades 4- 8-faith formation and sacramental preparation for Confirmation. Kathy was also the director of the Parish Stewardship. In both these capacities Kathy was truly blessed to work with some of the most wonderful and truly faith-filled people. John McNamara and Sr. Margaret were Kathy’s fellow DREs and along with hundreds of workers in the vineyard they were able to help build the beautiful parish community of St. Louis de Montfort. Kathy worked with her outstanding Stewardship Committee, to introduce the Diocesan Stewardship Program to our parish. The committee was able to establish a Financial and Time and Talent Renewals for the Parish. The Ministry Fair was celebrated four times and it continues to improve. The committee was also initiated the Soup Supper and Stations of the Cross program for Lent. Different Ministries were able to contribute soup for the suppers, which would take place after the Stations of the Cross. Small donations are given to support our Parish Outreach, which will forever be given in memory of Jane Guido. Kathy was blessed to have worked with such a wonderful person who was totally dedicated to those in need. Kathy was fortunate to work with such a collaborative parish community. She will always be grateful for the marvelous, loving community of St. Louis de Montfort. Kathy retired in August of 2018 and now gets to spend more time with her husband Bill, her daughter Katie and her husband Jay and her son Michael. Of course, she thoroughly loves and enjoys ore time with her father, Jim, (she calls him “Pop”) and her four wonderful grandsons. Kathy is honored to have been asked to be the co-honoree with John McNamara for the 2019 Parish Golf Outing. A Word from the Jane Marie Guido Outreach Office at St. Louis de Montfort Church.

Our Outreach Office in Sound Beach is a beacon of light for those who find themselves struggling financially. We serve people of all denominations who reside in our Parish boundaries. Our Outreach serves individuals, families and seniors with a monthly allotment of food, toiletries, and also clothing when requested.

This year we were proud to give every child a new coat, gloves and hat for the winter. We also organize special events throughout the year, including at Easter, September Back-to-School, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Operations Bunny gives each child an Easter basket and provides each family with an Easter dinner. Back-to-School gives each school-age child a Payless gift card, and a backpack filled with school supplies. Operation Big Bird gives each family a complete Thanksgiving dinner, with pie for dessert. The Christmas Giving Tree is an exciting event, with each child receiving four gifts. One of these is our own very special “Jane Angel tags.” Stockings and an extra supply of food for Christmas dinner are also given. Our Outreach Office provides help with tuition payments for some children in our Pre-School, and assistance to parents who cannot afford the fees associated with our Religious Education Program. We also assist families in emergency situations who run out of fuel, require assistance with rent and their utility bills, and with medical/medicine co-pays.

All these services and programs are only made possible through the abundance of supportive parishioners, local organizations, food drives, our Annual Plant Sale provided by Woodbourne Cultural Nurseries, and YOU, our very gracious benefactors.

With a VERY successful 2019 Golf Outing, we hope to continue to properly serve those in need. Without our many dedicated volunteers and ALL of YOU, we would not be able those who needs us most.

We continue to hear our beloved Jane say to us: You are truly the “Hands, Feet and Heart of Jesus.”

I am sincerely grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you,

Mrs. Hope Finamore
