  • 1. Make Pizza!
    Cooking for and with Kids
    Have Fun and a Delicious Meal!

2. Preparation
Ask an adult to help you gather and measure the ingredients and to help you with the hot oven
3. You will need
An Apron
Measuring cup and spoons
Rectangular baking pan
4. Ingredients
1 cups warm water
4 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon of salt
4 tablespoons of olive oil
2 packages of active dry yeast
Tomato sauce
Cheese provolone or mozzarella
Your favorite toppings
Try sardines if you want a traditional Sicilian taste
For the Dough

5. Make the Dough you can do this ahead of timeRecipe from www.recipepizza.com
In one bowl covered with plastic wrap combine yeast, 1/2 cup flour, and water. Allow to rise for 15 minutes. Stir to deflate.
In another bowl add 2 cups of remaining flour with salt, 1 cup cool tap water, and oil. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
Add yeast mixture.
Mix in remaining flour.
Knead 15 minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
Place dough in bowl dusted with flour and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise until doubled size (1 to 2 hours).
Punch dough down and put in ziploc bag in the refrigerator until ready to use.
6. Create Your Pizza
Preheat oven to 500F.
Remove dough from refrigerator when ready to shape into crust.
Punch down dough and roll out on a lightly floured surface.
Lightly oil (olive) a rectangular (17 1/2" X 11 1/2" X 3/4) pan. Place dough in pan and push to stretch evenly leaving a lip up against sides of pan. Let rest for 1015 minutes.
Cover the dough with sauce, cheese, and toppings
Now you are ready to bake it!
7. Time to Cook it and Eat It
Reduce oven temperature to 450 degrees
Bake for 25 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
Remove it from the oven carefully, let it cool, and Enjoy!
8. Clean Up
Remember to help clean up and wash the dirty dishes, Its all part of cooking!
