Elliot McKellar The BriefKlær Store(brief 1)

The brief was to create a visual identity for a new small and friendly independent male clothing store specialising in basic apparel with an emphasis on high quality/smart/stylish garments. The identity should be able to be applied to a variety of formats.

01/05

Produce a clean and clinical identity for the brand which is simple, recognisable and appropriate for a small friendly run business. The identity should appeal to like minded people interested in high-end quality boutique.

Business stationery includes Letterhead, envelope, compliment slip, store business cards, labels, tags, receipt holder and online order delivery sticker.

Elliot McKellar T-Shirts & Labels 02/05

To celebrate the store opening there will be a set of four Limited edition t-shirts. The designs had to be subtly stylish and stay true to the brand and its Norwegian roots.

The t-shirt designs were an interpretation of the northern lights, incorporating intricate line work to create visually engaging patterns, these patterns were then placed in a variety of geometric shapes to make for an exclusive range.

The t-shirts were hand screen-printed using a metallic silver emulsion, this against the white organic cotton made for a subtle and exclusive feel for the t-shirts. The t-shirts would be limited to five of each individual design to make the customer feel like they have something special and to feel a part ofthe company.

As part of creating the visual identity for the store I have designed and made custom labels for the companies own apparel they stock. The design is simply the logo on herringbone white cotton tape with logo in black.

Elliot McKellar Swing Tags/Receipt Holder

The swing tags are of a more experimental fold to traditional swing tags which adds an appropriate modern look for the store, the fold will open up to a simple layout about the item which the customer has just purchased so the customer feels like they have something personal.

03/05

The receipt holder is simple idea which goes a long way it adds sophistication and class to the store which reinforces the brand image and style.

Elliot McKellar Website

Klær Store would also have a live web presence in the form of a website, which would act as the store for customers who are not in a location nearby the store. Customers would be able to make online purchases of various different departments within the store.

The Website would open on the ‘Latest News’ section of the store which update customer on new stock and product the store has it would also offer a blog which would be updated daily so the customers would be viewing the website frequently

Exclusive, Limited edition t-shirt have been made to celebrate the Klaer Store opening this is one of five unique t-shirts which have been produced, the t-shirt design is one in a set of four different designs.

The Klaer Store is all about good quality fabrics thats why we have printed these t-shirts on virgin cotton, which is 100% organic. The range of T-shirts are slim fitting and fit true to size with no potential shrinkage.

The t-shirts celebrate the Norweigan heritage of the brand, the design were done by Elliot McKellar and were based on an interpretation of the Northern Lights.

The design is simple, effective and has a consistent design in relation to the business stationary. It’s clear and effective and most importantly easy to navigate through.

Elliot McKellar Proposals

As part of this brief and to show how it could be taken further I have proposed shop signage and packaging for the Klær store to put it in to a better context these initial concept could be translated across a further range of in store elements, such as in store signage and hangers.

05/05Klær Store(brief 1)

Having designed the stationery and referring to the brief and the brand, the signage is kept simple, with the logo centrally placed in a clear and precise manner which is in keeping across the designs for the Klær range.

The packaging for the store would be kept traditional in terms of retail packaging using paper bags in a clean and sophisti-cated white with the logo printed on the front and back, the bags would be available in a variety of sizes and appropriately matched to the item(s) purchased by the customer.
