Cold Weather Dog Safety
By Lauren
Hi! Spring is on the way, but we need to remember it is still cold outside and we don’t want to forget
about our 4 legged friends.
Here are some tips:
- Protect your dog’s paws! The cold and salt on the
streets and sidewalks can make their feet hurt. You
can buy special creams or shoes for them!
- Remember to clean your dog’s feet when they come
in and trim up their foot fur so that the snow doesn’t
make snow balls in their feet.
- Bundle up your dog. Even though your puppy is furry
they can still get cold! You can get them a jacket or a sweater at Walmart or any pet store!
- Limit the time your doggie spends outside. Dogs can easily suffer from frost bite or their ears or
on their tails.
- Give your doggie some treats to remind them spring is coming.
Gardening with Brett
By Brett
If you are sick of the cold and of winter you can start thinking about all the lovely flowers that are
coming really soon!
Did you know that in late march it is time to feed your garden,
trees, shrubs, hedges, perennials and vines? You should get ready
to give them fertilizer this month.
You can apply manure or compost to rhubarb, strawberries, roses
and vegetable beds. Remember to avoid manure on potatoes as it
can cause scabs.
You can start indoor containers with pansies, bulbs, perennials and primroses. Remember to keep
tender or sensitive annuals inside until after mother’s day to avoid them being frozen by late cold
weather.
