Throughout the short film we can denote tat the film is set at night time and in a location which there isn’t much lighting. This connotes its not

safe and quiet abstract. This is because at night our brains can make us think we are seeing something which might not be there or something that

might look like something. The title of the film 2AM makes the audience think throughout the film :Why is he out so late?/Where is he

going?/Where is he coming from? Also the second part of the title makes the audience think before it starts: Who is the Smiling Man?/What does he

look like?/What does he do?...The colours throughout the short film are mostly cold which could connote

fear and anxiety. The lighting on the boys face connotes that he is innocent. The end of the short film shows that the boy ended up in a dark place which could connote that he is still not safe. Another part from Mise

en Scene that anchors this meaning is that the Smiling man has disappeared from the scene which could connote that he is still running

about trying to find the boy.
