SHIPWRECKED: RESCUED BY JESUS VBS 2018

Do you have fond memories of Vacation Bible School? Does your mother still have popsicle stick crosses or paper plate art-work? For so many children, Vacation Bible School is the highlight of the summer. For others, it may be the only time they hear of God’s love.

This week we will be having our annual Vacation Bible School—and our church will be filled with singing, laughing, reciting Bible verses, making snacks, and playing games! Adult and youth volunteers will be here to lead the activities.

The children will be learning the following Bible verses about how Jesus rescues:

Monday: When you are lonely...Jesus Rescues! “The Lord will hold me close.” Psalm 27:10

Tuesday: When you worry….Jesus Rescues! “The Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Psalm 34:19

Wednesday: When you struggle….Jesus Rescues! “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Thursday: When you do wrong...Jesus Rescues! “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

When you’re powerless...Jesus Rescues! “This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead.” Ephesians 1:19-20

Please pray each day this week for the children and for every volunteer it takes for this week to happen! Pray that each child leaves knowing that God loves him/her and is there to help him/her every day.

Welcome Five New Members by Profession of Faith!

We have five new members who were baptized, confirmed, and became professing members of our church on Sunday, June 10, 2018. This all took place at Lake Blackshear at Lee and Faith Pinnell’s lake house. Shaw Pinnell and Matteson DeBaise are rising sixth-graders and entering the youth group this summer. Macie Deriso, Betsy Scott Turner, and Freddie Updike are already members of our youth group. Please keep each of these new members of our church family in your prayers as they start their faith journey.

Sunday, June 17,Children's Church the kids are talking about how to cele-brate the harvest. "Observe the Harvest Festival for the early produce of your crops that you planted in the field." Exodus 23:16 Sunday School for June 17, the kids are reading about the bible story: "God Talked to Moses" (Exodus 19:3-6: 20:1-17) And from this, the kids know that God's rules help us to know how to love God and others. "WHAT-IF" Wednesday, June 13, the kids painted with Mrs. Reba Hunter. The kids learned how to paint a bird...painting two canvas boards. One to take home, and one that we will take to the Magnolia Manor residents on June 27.

UPCOMING EVENTS Vacation Bible School is this week! June 18-22 from 9am-12noon. Completed 3K thru 5th grades. Let's all get Rescued by Jesus!! “WHAT-IF” Wednesday, June 27 "WHAT-IF".....we go to the Manor and make some residents HAPPY!! :) We will meet in the church parking lot at 10:45 a.m. and then we will take a van and go the Manor to deliver our paintings. Youth ~ Summer!

Welcome to our five new youth members of FUMC: Matteson DeBaise, Shaw Pinnell, Macie Deriso, Betsy Scott Turner, and Freddie Updike! A big THANK YOU to Lee and Faith Pinnell for hosting our Baptism at the Lake last Sunday, June 10. It meant so much to see members of congregation join us for this special day! Summer Bible Study- will resume after VBS on Wednesday, June 27, 12-1:30 p.m. in The Foundry (Core Team members must attend). Sunday School: We are starting a new series of lessons for the summer, Beginning Our Exciting Journey of Faith. These will be good lessons for us as we seek and we are shown how we are supposed to be changed in our faith with Christ in our lives. We need to know this, especially with several new believers and recommitted youth in our group! Don't use summer as an excuse not to be here, get up and join us and I know that you'll be glad that you did! Upcoming Events VBS- 6/18-6/22/18. Youth need to be in the church by 8:45 a.m. each day.
