HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN

PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS?

I think that our main product combined with our ancillary text are

effective as it is what the audience would expect to see either after viewing the ancillary texts or the

main products. This is because the colour combination is effective and are similar to each

other, and they both relate to the genre and the music, also the same

clothes and colour scheme are used in both the video

and ancillary texts.

Another reason why I think the combination of the

ancillary texts and main product are effective is

because all of these products illustrate the title of the song, there are shadowy images on the photograph used on the

poster, as well as the shadow used on the image on the

digipak, as well as this there are images of shadows in the music video, and this helps out ancillary text and main product combine together and relate to each other.



A combination of shadowy images are used on our ancillary products and our music video.

The matching dark colours and costumes on our digipak and poster will make the audience expect to see dark colours and similar costumes on our video,

which is what they will see.



Both the digipak and the poster create a brand identity which makes is easy to identify once one or

the other have been seen, it also means that the audience would expect the digipak and poster and

such to be similar as it is all for the same song, also it is less confusing for the audience if all products

are similar and can link to one another.



One thing that stands out on our products which makes them easily recognizable and helps to create a brand identity is the use of the birds, and this helps the audience link together that the two

are related.



We have also used birds as they represent hope and freedom, and sometimes peace and we have used these because the song is about

wanting to escape from the city, so the bird represent her hope for freedom and peace. They also link with the story of our video as they represent her

wanting to escape from reality and from the lies and have freedom and escape from the darkness surrounding her.

The photo-shoot also is very recognizable as the same actress is used and also the same clothing worn within the video is used which is something that again the audience would expect to see and this also helps create part of the

brand identity.



The black and white colour scheme we have used matches the video as it is dark and dull, it also matches the music

which is also dark and dull, which the black and white scheme also represents, and it adds to the brand identity

where everything is black and white.
