MONUMENTS

Spain Square: located in Maria Luisa Park was built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. It is one of the most emblematic places of Seville

Cathedral and Giralda: the Cathedral of Seville, the fifteenth century, is a World Heritage Site and is built on the remains of the old mosque.

It is one of the largest Christian churches in Spain and we can find from masterpieces of Murillo and Zurbarán to the tomb of Christopher Columbus.

Golden Tower: This tower along the river seems to take its name from the golden glow that its tiles reflected in the river Guadalquivir. It was built as part of the defensive system of the city and later was used as a chapel and a prison.

Alcazar: It was built in the Middle Ages and has been a place of accommodation of Kings and Queens. It is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe, and it was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, along with the Seville Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies.

Archive of the Indies: This file, also named World Heritage by UNESCO, was created by King Carlos III in 1785 to archive all documentation relating to the Spanish colonies.

The archives are rich with autograph material from the first of the Conquistadores to the end of the 19th century. Here are Miguel de Cervantes' request for an official post, the Bull of Demarcation Inter caetera of Pope Alexander VI that divided the world between Spain and Portugal, the journal of Christopher Columbus, maps and plans of the colonial American cities, in addition to the ordinary archives that reveal the month-to-month workings of the whole vast colonial machinery, which have been mined by every Spanish historian in the last two centuries.

The Metropol Parasol: It is known popularly as the Mushrooms of Seville and is an ultramodern structure that houses inside or Antiquarium archaeological museum, with remnants Romans and Arabs.

It is world famous for its Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. The most important are the Easter processions andtheir steps, they are true works of art.The April Fair is closely linked to the bullfighting season coinciding with this date you can see major bullfightings in the Real Maestranza.
