• Efisiensi adalah faktor nilai unjuk kerja dari suatu sistem.

• Nilai efisiensi steam turbine berhubungan dengan konversi energi aliran uap menjadi daya putar rotor.

• Efisiensi yang baik mendekati 100%.

• Nilai efisiensi dipengaruhi kerugian-kerugian internal dan eksternal dari sistem turbine.

• Losses in Regulating Valves– Kerugian diakibatkan irreversible proses

throttling adiabatic.

– 3% sampai 5% nilai tekanan uap masuk berkurang.

• Losses in Nozzles– Akibat pembelokkan arah aliran fluida.– Terjadi turbulensi pada dinding nozzle.– Kerugian pada nozzle mengurangi kecepatan

steam antara 4% sampai 5% akibat gesekan pada nozzle.

– Trobleshooting : membuat permukaan nozzle bersih dan licin.

• Losses in Moving Blades– Ukuran dari sudu jalan yang terlalu pendek. Karena jika

terlalu pendek dapat menyebabkan hantaran pancaran uap hanya sedikit yang melewati sudu tersebut, sehingga dibagian bawah dan atas blade terjadi pusaran uap dan gangguan-gangguan.

– Jika Steam turbine menggunakan saturated steam sebagai fluida yang mengalir, akan terjadi pengereman akibat tetesan air yang berbentuk kabut pada pinggiran sudu.

– Kerugian uap bekas yang keluar sudu jalan dengan energi yang berbentuk kecepatan.

• Mechanical Losses– Putaran shaft, khusunya pada bearing.– Gesekan dengan labyrinth seals.

• Losses due to Steam Leakage Through the End Seals– Banyaknya jumlah steam yang hilang

berbanding lurus dengan kerugian internal steam turbine.
