We have consulted with families to learn what matters most to you, and have designed our new program offerings to reflect the input we’ve received. We want you to be able to access the top-tier care McMaster Children’s Hospital is known for providing. We have developed our service pricing to cover our staffing costs, yet remain comparable to our peers. This program is new to us too, and we’re still learning. We welcome your feedback along the way.

LEVELS Use the chart on Page 9 to determine which level best applies to your child. If you have questions about levels, please contact us. These levels are a general guide; your child may not fit neatly into a category. If a service is only offered for certain levels, it will be indicated in the description.
PRICING Prices include parking at Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre during your visit, as well as any materials and supplies needed for the service. There is no tax on these purchases.
When you purchase four or more different types of service at one time, we’ll discount 13% from the total. Ask our staff about special themed service packages.

Art Auction in Celebration of World Autism Awareness Day
In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre organizes an annual art auction consisting of donated pieces from clients and community members. Staff and families look forward to bidding on their favourite artwork every year, which includes pieces created from within our service programs. We are fortunate to have support from various community members who also submit artwork and join us for the auction day. In addition to the auction, the day consists of raffles, interactive activities and autism awareness information. Recreational Programs
Resonance Choir
The Choir is open to children and youth receiving care at RJCHC between the ages of 8 and 18 years old who would like to sing as part of a group and broaden their musical horizons. Choir members need to be able to follow one-step instructions and participate cooperatively in a large group setting. RJCHC Cheer Squad

Hamilton Ice Cats Hockey

Specialized Clinics
Hearing Tests
Does your child require a hearing test? The Audiology Clinic at Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre provides comprehensive inter-disciplinary hearing assessments for children with autism. Services are provided by Registered Audiologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants. The Audiology Clinic team specializes in serving all ages, including those with physical, developmental and emotional issues. Referrals can be faxed directly to 905-521-4994. Hair-Cutting Specialized Clinic
Does your child have a difficult time getting their hair cut? The Autism Program has teamed up with a local hair stylist to offer specialized hair-cutting clinics this winter.

Psychological Consultation
These consultations provide the opportunity to raise concerns related to your child’s development, learning, behaviour or socio-emotional functioning. The psychologist will provide strategies and/or make service recommendations, including whether a psychological assessment or treatment is recommended.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
1:1 ABA Therapy
All 1:1 ABA therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment and custom behaviour plan to meet your child’s individual needs. Program plans can focus on building skills, like communication, toileting and play, or reducing challenging behaviours, like yelling, aggression, self-injury, etc. Skill building programs are provided by Autism Therapists; behaviour reduction programs are provided by Behaviour Therapists who are Board Certified Behaviour Analysts. All programming is overseen by a Clinical Supervisor.

Functional Analysis Assessment
A functional analysis (FA) is an evidence-based assessment used to determine why a specific behaviour is happening in certain situations. During a FA, clinicians will manipulate and test specific conditions in an individual’s home or at the centre to determine why a behaviour is most likely happening. The completion of a FA can help indentify the most effective interventions. Assessments are conducted by a Clinical Supervisor.

Triple P - Stepping Stones
This 9-week program teaches proactive strategies to help promote your child’s development and to help make parenting easier. Learn how to manage behaviours in a constructive way, teach new skills, increase desired behaviours, decrease undesired behaviours and learn survival skills for difficult situations. Recommended for caregivers new to their child’s diagnosis of autism or other developmental disabilities.

1:1 ABA Therapy
All 1:1 ABA therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment and custom behaviour plan to meet your child’s individual needs. Program plans can focus on building skills, like communication, toileting and play, or reducing challenging behaviours, like yelling, aggression, self-injury, etc. Skill building programs are provided by Autism Therapists; behaviour reduction programs are provided by Behaviour Therapists who are Board Certified Behaviour Analysts. All programming is overseen by a Clinical Supervisor.

This 9-week program teaches proactive strategies to help promote your child’s development and to help make parenting easier. 1:1 ABA Therapy
All 1:1 ABA therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment and custom behaviour plan to meet your child’s individual needs. Program plans can focus on building skills, like communication, toileting and play, or reducing challenging behaviours, like yelling, aggression, self-injury, etc. Skill building programs are provided by Autism Therapists; behaviour reduction programs are provided by Behaviour Therapists who are Board Certified Behaviour Analysts. All programming is overseen by a Clinical Supervisor.
