URNAL OF THE ACADE
ERRATUM
The article “Severely Restricted Diets inthe Absence of Medical Necessity: TheUnintended Consequences,” in the July2014 issue of the Journal of the Academyof Nutrition and Dietetics (pp 986-994),erroneously implied on page 990 thatsoy milk is not fortified with vitaminD. Since 2009, the US Food and DrugAdministration has allowed manufac-turers to fortify soy milk with vitaminD. Mary Anne Burkman, MPH, RDN, hasconfirmed that her quote should havestated, “If soy milk is not fortified withvitamin D, it may affect bone healthand strength.” The Journal regrets thisunintended error.
