ABOUT PEOPLE Obituary Peg Hinkle, MS, RD, June 2014, was an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 63 years, as well as the Ohio and Columbus Dietetic Associations. She earned an undergradu- ate degree in Home Economics from the University of Connecticut and a masters degree in Dietetics from The Ohio State University. After completing a dietetic internship at University Hospital in Co- lumbus, OH, Hinkle worked as a clinical dietitian in both Hartford, CT, and Co- lumbus. She was a co-founder of Dial- A-Dietitian in Columbus and co-author of The Low Sodium Handbook. Hinkle also served for 10 years as liaison from the American Dietetic Association to the American Dental Association, advising on issues concerned with diet and oral health. She was a president and longtime member of the Alliance of the Ohio Dental Association, writing for Alliance publica- tions, publishing scientic journal arti- cles, and hosting a nutrition update segment on public radio for 14 years. Hinkle received the Alliances Thelma J. Neff Award for leadership and excellence in service, the distinguished service award from The Ohio State School of Home Economics, the Presidents Award from the Ohio Dietetic Association, and the Ohio Dental Society Achievement Award for 25 years of service to the pro- fession. Hinkle also served for nearly 20 years as a consulting nutritionist in pri- vate practice until her retirement in 2001. ERRATUM The article Severely Restricted Diets in the Absence of Medical Necessity: The Unintended Consequences,in the July 2014 issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (pp 986-994), erroneously implied on page 990 that soy milk is not fortied with vitamin D. Since 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration has allowed manufac- turers to fortify soy milk with vitamin D.
