BACKGROUND1. The Indian elderly population is the second largest in the world. One out of every

ten senior citizen of the word lives in India. The population projection made by the Registrar General, India indicates that this number would be 100 million by 2016 and is expected to rise to 137 million by 2021.

2. The Tragedy in India today is that there are so many aged people, who are neglected, unloved and uncared for. These include the poor, middle-class and even rich.

3. Many of these senior citizens suffer from a similar malaise, their children, their grand-children, families, society itself, disrespects, neglects and rejects them as useless persons, who have past their prime. Their thoughts are ignored, voices unheard, advice rejected. They feel depressed and sad..

4. Today’s urban Indian family are in a desperate rat-race to gain name, fame and wealth, and these aged parents are simply an irritant/obstacle in their path.

5. If these senior citizens are ill or senile, they become an even larger financial burden to their families as quality health-care is very expensive and govt. health care facilities are inadequate and bursting at their seams.

6. Unlike the West, there are no note-worthy government schemes today that provide quality social and medical care to senior citizens. They are therefore left to fend for themselves or depend upon their families.

OUTCOME1. Proliferation of low quality aged homes and ashram’s without proper

medical facilities.

2. Disowned senior citizens are moved to these private/public aged homes or ashrams, by their families.

3. NGO’s run homes for the aged. These are few in number.

4. Most Aged homes are very poorly run, with the govt. ones being the worst.

5. Very low hygiene, overcrowding, poor facilities, and greed for profit make some aged homes a hell to live in.

6. The staff in these facilities are largely untrained in the art of managing geriatric patients and their medical care with little or no emotion being invested in the care process.

7. Value system in India today, is shallow and opportunistic. Defenseless elders of society become easy prey in such situations, and end up feeling insecure, depressed, dejected and unwanted.

RATIONALE Behind Our ProjectThere are several categories of senior citizens in India today :

1) Poor who cannot afford paying for an aged home2) Middle class with property/savings who can afford a choice3) Rich who can afford a choice

Most middle-class aged people in Mumbai own at least INR 1 crore (AED 1 million) worth of property + savings. This is due to the fact that they purchased property several decades ago and the prices have appreciated much during the subsequent years. Plus their life’s savings..

This means that any aged middle class couple can take a decision of selling their property, investing the earnings in safe fixed deposits and obtaining a very good sum as interest per month.

At today’s rate INR 1 crore deposit would give INR 120,000 per month withcapital remaining fixed. This means that a middle-class elderly couple are financially quite stable including their savings, and can make a choice of where they wish to live their retirement.

What many senior citizens are looking for is a loving, caring, respecting, secure, harmonious atmosphere where they can spend their retirement years in comfort, with the guarantee of professional medical care if necessary.

This is where we come in. We will create a world-class harmonious environment for such couples, or even singles, where they can find peace, tranquility, harmony in nature, with full safety and security and very importantly professional medical care in state-of-art facilities.

The guardians/children/family of such citizens will have 24 x 7 online access to their loved one’s health status, doctor’s chat sessions, health KPI’s, weekly reports etc, which will enable them to be abreast of their welfare.
