I have read the SHS Chorus Constitution on the school website

I understand that I am auditioning for a show choir for the 2017-2018 school year. This a class that includes conditioning, singing, and dancing along with after school rehearsals and performances that receive a grade.

I understand that there are limited spots available in any choir. I understand that if I am not chosen, it does not mean that I am not talented. I will work hard to be a positive contributor to which ever group I am placed.

I understand that Destiny includes graded Mandatory Monday practices afterschool from 2:30-5:00p and I have no conflicts on Monday

Destiny and Dynamics camp at SHS on Aug. 1 & 2 9:00a-9:00p

I understand that show choir classes require the purchase of a specific uniform including: practice uniform, dance shoes, uniform undergarments, black tuxedo pants (boys), and accessories (ex. eye lashes, hair bows, hair pieces, make up, tights, etc.) Females are expected to wear dance tights, jazz shoes/character shoes, and all black in every rehearsals. Males are expected to wear all black and jazz shoes in rehearsals. Students should always have their athletic shoes/jazz shoes/character Shoes with them in every rehearsal. I understand that I am responsible for these purchases.

I understand that there are required ensemble fees that I will be responsible to pay. The estimated fee for Destiny for the 2016-2017 school year is $500 per student and the fee for Dynamics is $300. Fundraiser participation is expected. Final decisions regarding performances/competitions are at the discretion of the director.

I understand that the show choirs will now be utilizing “swings.” Swing students will perform at all school concerts and in-school performances, but may be assigned non-performing roles and duties (ex. sets, costumes, lights, sound, etc.) at competitions. Students must meet class and rehearsal expectations in order to perform on the stage.

Show choir will involves stamina. I understand that I will need to work out, train, and practice outside of class time in order to be competitive and build muscle memory.

If chosen for a show choir, I understand that I will be given my contract at camp and my signed contract and first payment of $100 will be due by Friday, 8/18/17. Failure to turn in payment and contract will result in removal from the class.

I understand that excessive absences from class and any performances/rehearsals may result in removal from the ensemble.

I understand that I am representing Seminole High School, the chorus department, and the previous SHS Show Choirs of the past. I will abide by the SCPS Code of Student Conduct and will represent my

choral department with dignity and respect. I will honor the instructions of the teacher/dividends/choral assistant and understand that it is my duty to appreciate and respect them.

If I fail to abide by these guidelines set before me, I will not perform with my choir and will furthermore suffer the consequences of my actions which may result in the removal of the ensemble.

You are only as strong as your weakest link. Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a team work. Treating classmates, adults, and dividends with respect is expected. When given feedback, the appropriate response is “Thank You.”
