David is the presenter of the regional current affairs programme, Inside Out. He is also the Series Director and Producer. He hosts the Saturday Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Norfolk ‘Wake up with Whiteley’ and regularly presents BBC Look East.

He lives south of Norwich with his TV presenter wife, Amelia Reynolds and their two daughters, Annabel and Cleo. In his spare time David can be found surfing in the North Sea, all year round! And is a keen runner.

Picture the scene, it’s late August. We’ve just moved house, our eldest daughter is about to start school, we have builders eating our biscuits (while doing a cracking job I might add), and Inside Out is about to go back on air. And then I get an email from the editor of this magazine asking me to write this for Christmas. Christmas! You're kidding me? Christmas is years away, no, LIGHT years away.

But in reality, I know full well, it’s going to be here soon. Oh, hang on. It is.

Not that I’m complaining. I love Christmas. Scratch that, I LOVE Christmas! I always have. All kids love it, but when you grow up and before you have your own kids, some people have leanings towards a certain Ebenezer Scrooge. Not me. I’ve always embraced the festive season. Being a fairly seasoned broadcaster of almost 20 years, I’ve worked a lot of Christmases, but I don’t mind, in fact, it’s a real privilege talking to people on air on the 25th December.

Norwich is a wonderful place all year (I’m biased of course). But there’s an extra layer of magic this time of year. Whether you’re out shopping, dining out or getting into the festive spirit, it does feel like there’s something extra special about the fine city at Crimbo.

I mentioned we’d moved. Well the house has a chimney. So from now on we can dispense with the magic key Santa had to use to get in the front door of the old house. Cleo, our youngest, calls him ‘Ho-Ho’. Very logical. While our eldest, 4 year old, Annabel, reminds me NOT to light the new fire on Christmas Eve. I don’t need presents, I have children with common sense. They must get that from their mother.

Have a wonderful Norwichristmas! And I hope ‘Ho-Ho’ brings you all you desire!
