Avenue and left without pay-ing. The subject was contact-ed and admitted to knowing-ly have eaten dinner withoutmoney to pay. The subject,age 59, was cited andreleased.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Acitizen was silently protest-ing in the business districtwith due regard for the law.A citizen approached frombehind and swiftly grabbedthe protest sign from thehands of the protester. Achase ensued, with the signtaker reaching his vehicleat San Carlos and Seventh.Witnesses observed the signtaker leave the area in avehicle and provided theinformation to the protest-ing citizen. Contact madewith the sign taker, whoagreed to return the prop-erty to the protesting citi-zen. The protesting citizenonly wanted the sign takerto be educated on the rightsof citizens and free speech.The sign taker was coun-seled and released, andreturned the sign as agreed.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fireengine dispatched to RioRoad at Lasuen Drive for alockout in the parking lot ofthe ball park. Arrived onscene to find a small childlocked in a vehicle but not indistress. Assisted P.D. andAAA with unlocking thevehicle.

Pebble Beach: Personreported setting down his bagwith a digital camera andequipment. When he returnedto where he left the items 30minutes later, they weregone. Loss estimated at $750.

Carmel Valley: The sus-pect entered a closed busi-ness and stayed the night. Inthe morning, he was told toleave and refused. He wasalso on probation. He wasarrested and booked intocounty jail.

SATURDAY,SEPTEMBER 5

Carmel -by- the -Sea:Person came into the stationto report the loss of aniPhone on the beach yester-day. Information was taken inthe event the the iPhone isturned over for safekeeping.

Carmel -by- the -Sea:Driver of a motor vehiclestruck and damaged a parkedvehicle in the area of SanCarlos and First Avenue. Thedriver was found to be anunlicensed. Driver was citedfor being unlicensed, and hervehicle was towed away andimpounded.

Carmel -by- the -Sea:Officer responded to a reportof a dog unattended in aparked vehicle on LincolnStreet. On arrival, the ownerwas at the vehicle, and con-tact was made. Two bowls ofwater were available, and theowner said he had the win-dow open; however, no win-dows were found open duringcontact. Advised of properventilation when leaving adog in a vehicle. The dogappeared to be in goodhealth.
